Hudd - White- Handz vs Coach Jester - Night Hawks
After a slow start to the season the Hawks got on track with a win last week, William Shatner was key to the win with a big hit in the last minutes of the game on a troll sending him into the ball carrier who in turn fell out of bounds. As always Mr. Shatner is playing it up to the media and any that will listen. That was last week though and to get to the finals you need to win more than just one game, the hawks are without Hugo Shatner this week as he came up sore in practice, already playing with a bad back it now seems he has a hamstring tear and some sort of stomach bug so he will be out this game. The White-handz are at full strength, their game plan seems simple, let Gluva score, a thing he is doing well, and let the rest the team do what they do and bash the other team to bits. May seem simple but it's not. A close look shows they run great misdirection plays and use trap blocking, they stay disciplined in their assignments even in the chaos of battle.
Prediction: This week lets keep a close eye on Ugrsh and Black orc Ugroth, both like to pile on into their blocks, but knowing this i look to see the hawks set it up so they are gang fouled out the game early, lets just see who and what the ref is looking at for the game
Player to watch: White - Hands will be too strong and with one the Shatner boys out it is and even harder thing to think the hawks can get any points at all... Handz win 3-0
Goodpass - Falcon Firebirds vs Jounisii- Sour Saurii
Goodpass is a coach know for getting the best out of his players and in spotting good new talent, this week he has a new catcher in the line up and with star catcher Garnon Orren out with a bad back (same say its really for a new hair style) they will need the rookie to shine. Sour Saurii are looking more sweet than sour as they are in clear second place . Being their first season in immortal they will be looking to make a statement in this game and show they are true contenders. Most Lizard teams are know for their powerfull Saurii but the skinks on the team are showing some real talent, Bitter Basilisk being an unsung hero for the team, he may not get the glory of the TD's like Iguana gets but he is solid in defense.
Prediction: 3-1 Firebirds, with not enough Sausii that can stick the block and make sure they wrap up in the tackles will lead to the firebirds doing as they wish
Player to watch:(I did want to go with Bitter Basilisk to makes some great defensive stops but we have a new player in town so as a first gamer lets look at him) Rookie Catcher Lion Warghunter, It's his first game for the firebirds, he was picked because in the minor leagues it is said he plays a physical game yet like all elves he can slip out of almost anyone's grasp. I expect him to have a good day as he picks up 2 or 3 catches, a TD and even KO's a skink or 2. I also see thrower Red Phoenix and Lion becoming the future one two punch in scoring for the firebirds future
Insidious - Grummsh's Glaives vs Gorbag1 - Gorland Skulls
Game of the Week: Why you may ask? we are not even half way through the season but I feel this is a must win for both teams, The skull started the season well but have fallen away, players not picking up the ball, dropped catches, yes it happens to most teams, but the skulls tend to leave themselves open when they make the mistakes, they need to have back up plans. Coach Insidious started slow but has kept it tight in his other games and had weather and other factors not been a part of their season they could be a lot higher than they are. The Glaives have more veterans on the team, but the skull though younger have more balance at the point of attack, both seem to like to pass the ball more than most orc teams, but this can lead to mistakes. I expect the skulls to win the trench fight they just have better balance, solid skills to dominate the line and a stronger troll as the anchor for the black Orcs (albeit slower), but its the Glaives stars that will be game changers, one way or another, (they have better skill sets that allow them to take more risks) will the be heroes or clowns? I think the Glaive will maybe put more stats up, passing running and so forth but will they convert that to a score? I am not sure. One thing I am sure is what ever team makes that needed dodge for what ever reason will likely win the game. both can often over commit to one side leaving the other open, so stay focused guys and good luck
Prediction: 1-1 I say this as i have no idea who will win it may even come down to the weather, I see coach gobag getting a wizard this week or use the money to pay off a ref or 2
Player to watch: Both throwers for the game. This game may go down as being know as the "Green air bowl" Skud for the Glaives in 2 games (he missed to opener) has 34 yards off 3 passes and Gorknik in 3 games has 3 passes for 48 yards. this at first may not seem much but when compared to human thrower Uther pendragon 3 for 40 and elf firebird star Saelron 3 for 62 yards, they are really airing out that pig skin.
