Thoughts on not using overtime and penalties? Will make it slightly easier if the defending player just needs a draw to maintain their position. And the penalty thing is terrible

Thoughts on not using overtime and penalties? Will make it slightly easier if the defending player just needs a draw to maintain their position. And the penalty thing is terrible Spent quite a bit of time making a decision on this. It was even considered and tested (thank you, Coach), to make each match a best out of three. In the end it was decided to keep it as it is. It is much more entertaining to have two players playing for the win, than just the one player. Advice; Don't burn through your rerolls . Also, it was decided that playing best out of three, would be too many matches for players to arrange and be obligated to play.

Wow. This makes my brain hurt. So if you lose a match, regardless of whether you are the challenger or the challenged, you go down 3 spots?

Heh. Sorry about that. But trust me somewhere in that chaos there is order . When calculating how far you move down, the default is 3 steps, but it can be more or less, based on other fights. The reason that the default number is 3, is to avoid seeing a duplicate match in a following event, especially when it comes to the top ranked players (as it is more likely the lower on the ladder we go). For example, if the Champ lose, we do want that team to move far enough down, so they can't not just challenge next event again. We want to give another contender a chance. Now, if they are able to challenge next match, and win it, they will be back at the Contender spot. The path of redemption is everything

Do want to add, the reason why we described the rules, is for the people that are really interested in what goes on behind the curtain.
In the end, as it is with UFC (or boxing for that matter), all you really need to know to have some fun is that if you win, you gain popularity, and move closer to the Champion spot. If you lose, there will be a fan or two, looking elsewhere, and you will have to redeem yourself.
Heck (and more will follow after we are up and running), there will be other things that can change everything. Without saying to much, but just a little teaser, would like to have a "Rocky" event, where a low rank team get a shot at the Championship or the "Rivalry of the Ages", where two players that have really gone at each other as fluff, will get a fight, no matter the seperation in rank.
But now, Im just getting ahead of myself. Lets get one step down and moving before adding more.
In the end, this league is really about adding some story, rivalry, fame or infamy to and between the members of Iron Phoenix.

Sign up here or in-game? And it sounds like they do not have to be fresh teams(pending review)? This is for the UBC. UBC is on hold until the first Ultimate Bowler is finished. The Ultimate Bowler I will set and decide the initial ranking system (Like who will be the 1st Champ and where each other team is placed in ranking). After that, the UBC will keep going, and the Ultimate Bowler will now and again be a side event. Now if interested to enter the UBC, why not enter the first Ultimate Bowler? Its about 1-5 matches depending on how well you are doing, so not a lot of time you are obligated to spent. Its also a tournament where we encourage (again not obligated too), players watching others matches together, so we can not only advice, but also bull shit a bit together. So we hopefully bring the community closer together. The prize for winning the Ultimate Bowler is also $20. Now the entry team for Ultimate Bowler is only new teams (this could be different in future Ultimate Bowlers). If you still want to wait for the UBC to roll out, you are right that the TV for teams can be a bit higher. That number will be set after each bi-weekly event and based on the lowest TV of either the Champ or the two contenders. To sign-up fir Ultimate Bowler, see thread in that forum. When UBC rolls out, we will have a thread under this forum. (Sorry for broken sentences and grammer errors. Writing this on phone).

A few questions I have been asked regarding the challenge round; If I have more than one team, can I challenge with them all?Yes. Each team is allowed to challenge Do I have to challenge with a team? No. You can still be challenged by a team below you. Though remember; if you are not able to become a challenger two times in a row, you would become "green", which give you priority to challenge the third time. Not challenging anyone, is not adding to that, and will actually reset it, meaning you would need another two matches, where you were not able to challenge to become "Green" Green, Red, Neutral? What does that mean? I don't see any colors on the ranking? To ensure everyone eventually will have a chance to become a challenger and moving up, there is a priority system in place. When figuring out, which challengers get accepted, we are using different variables. First TV, then Rank. But before that, each coach have also been placed in a priority of Green, Neutral and Red. Green have highest priority, Red Lowest. You become Green if you have tried to challenge two events in a row, but didn't get the match you want. You become Red, if you have successfully been the challenger, two events in a row. Here in UBC 1 and 2, of course nobody have had the chance to enter either of the "priority colors". This will make more sense starting UBC 3. What happens if I want to retire my team, but it is after the deadline?
To avoid screwing up the whole challenger round, your team stay in, until the next UBC event (remember to announce your retirement before that, so you don't repeat the circle). If you want to "give up" on the team, you will have a couple of options, if you were challenged. 1) Play the match, and maybe even win, renewing your interest in the team. 2) After negotiations, and as soon as coaches start to arrange dates for their matches, announce to your opponent, that you are conceding. This way, they are not waiting for you to reply. You team will gain a submission, and you will move down the rank, and your opponent, will move up, as if they had won. 3) You can setup the match, and concede in the match. Not recommended, especially if planned. But you are allowed. You team will of course move down the ranking and with a submission record. Your opponent will move up with the win, but now also, with two MVPs and the gold. So overall, option 1 is best. If not possible, then option 2...and last, but not recommended, option 3. It seem like a long time to be able to challenge another team. Will this speed up?
Oh yes. It will speed up a lot. Just allowing extra time here for the first UBC, so everyone is able to grasp the rules. From UBC 2 you have a lot less time to challenge. It becomes important to check out the UBC Schedule, so you know when to visit the forum, to be able to get your challenge in. --------------------------------- Please don't hold back. If you have any question(s), please ask them here. This is new for everyone, and we want to make it as smooth as possible. As always, remember to have Fun and Not Stress.

On the UBC schedule, it say Negotiation of Matches? Is this the time where coaches arrange the time for playing?
This could be a little misleading. The negotiation of matches is actually, where all the challengers is looked at, and it is calculated which matches is put on the card of that relevant event. The schedule allows a couple of days to get this done, but the commission will try to get it done as quickly as possible. The Card of the Event WILL be announced within that period.
The dates for the UBC Matches, includes the time for you to arrange your match with your opponent, so please get in on the forum as soon as possible to set up a time and date.
We will be tough when it comes to deadlines in the UBC, as there is quite a few steps. Meaning there will be no extension from now on. I know, it sucks, as real life can interfere, but it is the only way to run this league smooth.

Hey, say my team from Ultimate Bowler 1 was automatically entered into the UBC ladder, but I never want to play them or look at them again.
What do?

Hey, say my team from Ultimate Bowler 1 was automatically entered into the UBC ladder, but I never want to play them or look at them again. What do? You could declare a submission, preferable on the forum and before the match. What will happened then, is you team will move down the ranking as a loss by submission, and your opponent will move up with a win. If you declare it in the match, the same will happened, but t e other team will get all the bonuses with a concede, so not preferable. Best result is, that you bite the bullet and play the match. Maybe you will find a connection again . But it's about having fun and you are not forced to do it. IMPORTANT; To avoid getting entered into the next UBC, declare retirement in the Sign-up thread.
