Competition Format
The Iron Phoenix World Cup 2018 Qualifier will be a two stage ‘Resurrection-style’ competition; a round-robin group stage (6 coaches per division, 48 coaches total) followed by a 16 player knockout competition. The winner of the grand final will be awarded an entry ticket to represent Iron Phoenix Bloodbowl League in the BB2 2018 World Cup.
Team composition
Build your team from any race up to 1100tv THEN select your skill choices. The number of skills allowed on a team is determined by which tier they fall into as follows:
Tier 1: 6 normal skills OR 4 normal skills and 1 double skill
Amazon, Bretonnian, Chaos Dwarf, Dark Elves, Dwarf, Lizardmen, Norse, Orc, Skaven, Undead, Wood Elves
Tier 2: 7 normal skills OR 5 normal skills and 1 double skill
Chaos, Human, High Elves, Khemri, Kislev, Necromantic, Nurgle, Elven Union, Underworld
Tier 3: 8 normal skills OR 6 normal skills and 1 double skill
Goblins, Halflings, Ogres, Vampires
You may put a maximum of one skill on each player. No stat boosts are allowed. You do not have to use all of your money or skill allocation; any surplus will be lost, but may allow for the purchasing of inducements during the pre-game phase. After each match the team will reset (squad/skills/extras). Zombies, skeletons & players raised from Nurgle's Rot will not be kept on your team, you will not gain spp's and you will not collect gold. You will use the same roster in every match you play.
-No mixed races
-You do not have to coach the same race in the World Cup that you qualified with, should you win a ticket
Inducements and enhancements
All inducements use, Stadium enhancements are banned.
Progression
-As per game client, teams will be awarded 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, and 0 for a loss. After the final match of the round robin, the top teams in each division will progress into the knockout rounds.
-In case of a tie, progression is determined by a)head to head record (winner progresses), then b) highest TD differential +/- (winner progresses), then c) most casualties inflicted (winner progresses). If teams are still tied after c), admins will determine progression by a coin-flip.
Arranging Matches
Use the corresponding Iron Phoenix forum thread to arrange matches with your opponents (http://iron-phoenix.freeforums.net/). We are an international community, so please post all times in GMT. You may choose to contact your opponents via steam or discord, but if a match needs to be admin'd, the administration team will only assess the messages posted on our official forum. We ask all participating coaches to check the forum regularly, and to post their full available times within 2 days of the match day threads going up.
Length of match day weeks
Each MD will roll on Tuesday at 23:59 GMT. Time will be tight, but if you're struggling, let us know asap & extensions may be granted.
Admin decisions
If a game cannot be played due to no mutually possible time, the admin team will make a decision based on the information/availabilities recorded in the MD thread. In cases where both coaches posted promptly (within 2 days of the thread going up) and with reasonable windows of availability, the game will be admin'd as a 0-0 draw. Where one coach has not posted their availabilities in a timely fashion, or where the time posted was so slim a window that it is deemed unreasonable, the game will be admin'd as a 2-1 win in favour of the coach who posted on time and/or made themselves more available to get the game played.
Forum and in-game behaviour
The admin team reserve the right to remove a coach from the competition if they engage in abusive and offensive behaviour in our forums or in-game. Fouling (for any and every reason) is a part of the game, and is not considered abusive or offensive.
Conceding
Conceding a game because it is not going well for you will not be tolerated. Stay the course of the 16 turns, or risk being removed from the competition. In case of emergencies, inform your opponent, and both of you are to post on the forum explaining the circumstances and arrange a time for a re-match. An admin may be able to reset your game if time and circumstances allow it.
