Everyone has got their own ideas here - but this article is entirely based on some cold hard stats!
All the stats are taken from matches uploaded to BBM, and the score is the number of points you could expect to get from 100 games. (Over a quarter million games in total)
Low TV
(1000-1200)
1 Undead 55.67
2 Lizards 54.33
3 Amazon 53
4 Dwarf 51.67
5 Skaven 49.67
6 Necromantic 49.67
7 Woodies 49.33
8 Chaos Dwarf 49
9 Orc 48.67
10 Khemri 48.33
11 Dark Elf 48
12 High Elf 47.33
13 Norse 46.67
14 Pro Elf 45.67
15 Chaos 45.33
16 Human 44.33
17 Nurgle 42.67
18 Underworld 41
19 Khorne Daemons 39.67
20 Vampires 37
21 Halfling 33.67
22 Goblin 31.67
23 Ogre 31.67
I reckon, the balance is not too bad. The top group of four have a distinct advantage, but you have always got a chance…
Khorne and Vampires are obviously… a challenge to play!
The bottom three are pants – but this is deliberate!
The only real surprises for me here, were Orcs, Woodies and Chorfs being mid-table ish - I really expected these to be right at the top.
Mid TV
(1400-1600)
1 Necromantic 51.67
2 Undead 51
3 Dark Elf 51
4 Woodies 50.67
5 Lizards 50.33
6 High Elf 50.33
7 Skaven 50
8 Chaos Dwarf 50
9 Dwarf 48.67
10 Pro Elf 48.33
11 Amazon 47
12 Orc 46
13 Chaos 45.67
14 Khemri 44.67
15 Nurgle 44.67
16 Norse 44.33
17 Human 43
18 Vampires 42
19 Khorne Daemons 38
20 Underworld 37
21 Ogre 28
22 Halfling 25.33
23 Goblin 25
Mid TV levels is where BB is at its most balanced. Now everyone has had chance to add some skills, all the top 18 teams are competitive.
The bottom group are even worse though. Stunties die just as easy, regardless how many skills they got!
High TV
(2000+)
1 High Elf 53.67
2 Woodies 53
3 Pro Elf 52.67
4 Dark Elf 52.33
5 Chaos 50.33
6 Skaven 49.33
7 Necromantic 47.67
8 Lizards 47.33
9 Chaos Dwarf 47.33
10 Nurgle 47.33
11 Vampires 46.33
12 Dwarf 46
13 Orc 43.67
14 Norse 42.33
15 Undead 41
16 Human 40
17 Khemri 36.33
18 Amazon 35
19 Khorne Daemons 34.33
20 Ogre 28.67
21 Halfling 25.67
22 Underworld 25.33
23 Goblin 19.67
Past TV 2000, the game breaks again as the range of scores move further apart – it is now the time of the elf!
Now everyone has a team of superstars, with all the skills you could want – base AG4 really sets the elves apart.
Vampires reach the heady heights of mid table!
Underworld drop into the stunty league for reasons that quite escape me – I think they should be good with Mutation skills access.
Goblins may need a whole new tier of their own…
Before you all start creating an elf team - the whole picture is of course much more complex.
Elves do not do that well in the perpetual leagues (OrcaCola, UKBBL). You can win plenty of games with elves, but every so often you have one of those games… and then have no team left. (These perpetual leagues seem to won by Chaos, Skaven (cheap compared to elves), Lizards, Chaos Dwarfs and even Nurgle!)
Undead have their own problems too – With no apothecary, it is really hard to build your team up and protect your star players.
