Iron Phoenix Training academy. We setting this up for new coaches to Bloodbowl or those older heads who just want a refresher. You can also request to have your replays reviewed by seasoned veterans. Our aim is to provide a one to one coaching program to teach the basics of the game, BB has a huge learning curve and we fully understand the long road of hell on your quest for glory. We currently have a few admins offering up their time. We are also seeking mentors to help our new coaches. In this sub forum you will find Mentors who will offer guidance in specific races as well and general basic game mechanics tutoring. view the list of Mentors then post in his thread requesting the service you require. We also offer voice comms facilities to help improve the service we offering. TEAMSPEAK 3 Details to follow.

I might send in a game replay to review. Lately I feel I keep making general mistakes but can't really put my finger on any one thing. Also I'm always doubting my setups and in general my offense needs some work (my defense is pretty decent, I feel).
But I know there are other coaches who are newer/need more guidance than me so I am ofcourse willing to let others have a chance before me.
Also, it doesn't necessarily have to be a review. Would be more than willing to plan an IP open game where a veteran points out mistakes/things I could do better.

Hi mate Don't worry about jumping in front of anything, Post in Hudds section and ask him to watch a game, Tell him which one. If you like a One on one, Just select a Mentor and post your times.

Great idea guys to help the rookies learn the game with one on one coaching. Rookies don't hold back, do not assume that beating the AI in solo mode compares to the real Bloodbowl. Unvoluntary crowdsurfing is more common with a human opponent. Get used to see turn 8 and 16 special plays and high risk moves to score that TD. For experienced coaches giving comments is a goldmine, all you have to do is dig it, dig it? I suggest you start with a Human team and stick to it for 10 training matches. Start with at least one of each positional player so you start learning their strong suits and weak spots. After that you should be satisfied, or you want more bashing power or like a more dashing game. For Bash try 10 matches Orcs, for Dash try 10 matches Skaven. Those teams have a similar teambuild as the Humans so the things you learned can be used again. If you really like a race skip the Humans and start working to make them work right from the start. Most of all, have fun.

What I find more difficult is people in a position like my own. For example, WAY past steamrolling the AI, and can comfortably kick ass in Auld, but against a truly skilled opponent, or against a team I have little expreience against, I can and will get the floor wiped with my carcass. If a player needs help with the basics, then I can help, and so can just about anyone here. if a player needs specific help with one race, then we have some of the best specialist coaches in the game here (Goodpass with Elves for example), but what about players halfway between this? Players who are comfortable with the basics and what most guides post as "advanced" strategy (chainsurfs, 1ttd with MA<8, turning defence into offence etc-I'm good with all that) but who still make mistakes which in Auld may not even be noticed, but in league play are basically a loss waiting to happen. This is not to knock the idea of an academy, I think its a fantastic idea, and I am proof that a poor player can improve dramatically with help from people here (Manco for example has commented multiple times on how badly I played defence in my first season, how my positional play left a LOT to be desired, and how I've improved) but I'm not sure (apart from the obvious Play More Matches) about the best way to take the rather large step from being a good auld player to being a good LEAGUE player.

Squiggy practise makes perfect, as with all skills we learn the first steps are easy. After that it becomes hard work. We are not all blessed equal to become truly outstanding, improving yourself is possible however. Bloodbowl has some dice rolling to frustrate great skill or negate bad actions. So you can Always hope for above average dice rolling or blame those dice if something goes wrong. I am curious what advice they have for you to make that rather large step?

I would like to add that I think there is something to be said for specializing. Figure out what races you want to play and/or the ones that best fit your coaching style, then play them a lot. Admittedly this is something I struggle to do (because I still like experimenting with different teams and styles), but it seems to me that most of the really good coaches have specialized and tend to be most successful with a narrow band of teams.
And of course, learning defense is vital. Offense is easy, defense is hard. At least that's the way it seems to me.

Question: How many graduates of the Iron Phoenix Academy are there currently? Has any graduate of the academy ever won a major championship or cup?
