And welcome to the alternative mentor's section! I've played all the teams at least a little, so I have a some common grasp of the game. Sequencing and tempo control are my main tools I use in general.
But my specialities in here are pros, wussies, lizzies and flings (in that order). If you are ready for some unconventional strategies and tactics, this is your place to be. The basics on what I'm trying to sell (including strategy = skill choices and TV control + tactics = how to approach an individual match): Pros: Plasmoid's and cKnoor's basic tactics can't beat high TV bash often enough. Hyper aggressive defense and courageous stall plays are needed. Correct strategy with approbiate skill picks are essential. For example, the 1st catcher to skill up, wrestle -> leap and defensive thrower to blodge, SH, leap -way. Wussies: especially in a long league which lasts for many seasons the original team build is crucial. I favour relying very heavily on linos and many rerolls, which will give a skilled lineman core with which you can employ the basic AV7 elf tactic: separate LOS from the cage. Lizzies: aggressive fouling combined with fluid ball harassing will put your opponents off their feet. The key is to counter 2 major flaws of lizards: uphill struggle against bash teams, especially claw teams, and how to protect the ball against leaping elves. Flings: the importance of TV control can't be stressed enough. Good inducements and ability to think on your feet will win you more games than you had ever anticipated. So, the ball is on your court, ask away.

"Alternative mentor"??!!
What the fuck is that? Is that akin to leading an 'alternative' lifestyle??

It's a way to say that I do disagree with many other mentors in here, and even with many other playbooks and "experts" outside of this community. But duh, the prime lizzieist didn't even deserve an answer

We can hook up some time, CJ. Naturally, with fresh lizard team having no essential skills, the task to counter those mentioned drawbacks is way more difficult. But basically skinks can't be protected all the time but they have to participate in team effort. And Manco can retreat to a kissing booth with Havol

Ok. Let's see. I like the saurus core. All the needed stuff is there: some tackle, some MB, some guard + some BTs for mobility. Nice. At some point you might consider frenzy/SF saurus for sideline threat + help to 1turning. #s 2 or 4 for example. If you play in elf rich environment, juggs is good to handle those pesky wrestlers. With tackle MB he would become a real elf hunter. I myself like to have 2 potential MB blitzers for different situations and frenzy dude would give you a 3rd option. Very nice block krox. SF and grab and you're golden. And then the bloaty skinks. Almost 700k tied to 6 fairly mediocre and banged up skinks is a lot. If you know Intense Iguana, he took SH immediately with double. That skill alone has won Saurii some matches. So I'd prioritise that skill unless you have an AG4 skink. #9 is a huge liability. +2 to injury rolls is bad. I'd sack him unless he's your carrier. I hope you use Zippy with ball and that AV bust is acceptable in that case. Niggle is worse as you know. I personally build some defensive skinks with SS/DT start. If I get outmaneuvered, I send and sacrifice one of them close to BC to give me extra turn to reform (that situation is almost must blitz backwards for your oppo). Skills I like to see on skinks your team is lacking are SG and catch. Catch to make that quick score easier. SG for some random fouling or for a good old fashioned gang fouls. Ofc, later in the line when you have SH and 1 or 2 blocks, I'd go for DP if the 1st skill is a double roll. Skinks are excellent foulers on good targets: they're fast and mobile and especially during early stale mate turns they can do some kicking behind saurus screen. So. there's some thoughts. I hope I confused you even more

No problemo. Glad if I could help even a bit. If you have some replays, I can take a look and try to say something (not too sensible) about them

I don't play/struggle with enough of the teams you listed to ask assistance but I love playing against Pro's (The only team on your list I actually use and I'm pretty good with) and hate Lizards with Khemri so if you fancy a game at any point to test tactics with these teams I'd be up for it.

I like to play against you, Crim, but we might have a problem. I don't have many teams you're asking for. My bloaty nagg lizzies are at 2170 and my pro teams are 2130k in nagg and 1300k in MHI. And those lizzies have kinda retired. I just keep them around for OCC emergency replacement purposes.
If you fancy anything in there, we might have a go. Playing with rookieish teams kinda defeats the purpose since you haven't had the time to mold your team the way you like it for your tactics.

OK Jounisii, what would you do with my OCC lizards? I have become mired in OCC3 with them and want to go higher My Kroxigor has died 6 times in the last 12 games! Hence I have no money.

Ok, Hudd. In OCC I would reroll to pros quickly But if we have to talk about this team, here's some: For that high TV team you have very little break tackle (1). At least 3 should be closer to the number. So forget that guard and make them more mobile. Helps you to defend against slippery elfies and stunties, when for 1 turn the saurii aren't all tied up while oppo does his play. Allows you to make escapes from those nasty, nasty claws as well instead of being their fodder. And for general repositioning for both in D and offense. 2 very nice skinks. But 1 of them can't really do his defensive duty unless you're in panic. Talking about the almost non existent DT in your team. I use SS/DT skinks quite aggressively at times as you know. They are good in offense as well, caus with them you can screen huge spaces at times. Do you foul at all? Back to your guard pondering. I understand the need for it against certain kind of teams. But even with high guard amount you might very well get beaten. I think positioning is more important and that's where you need those BT pieces to get to choose your fights against slower and bashier teams. And on the other hand, you have ST boosts in there already so your guys are difficult to bring down. If you wanna point me to some replays, feel free to do so and I can take a look. Hope this helped even a bit.

Thinking about it, I really can't remember the last time I got more than a point against Elves of any description with this team. I also struggle (more success though) against the out and out Bash teams. I just keep picking up enough points from the well rounded teams to not get relegated I was tempted to take BT on Puaq, but went for Guard instead, feeling I needed some extra anti-Bash help. To be honest, the 1 BT Saurus I have hardly ever uses it... Ladyburdz will definitely be taking DT next. I understand the SS/DT skink is brilliant, but they just keep dying, so I got rookies Fouling - sometimes. Less with this team as I have no DP - and can't see a skink ever getting one, as double means Block/Wrestle always for me. I also want kick but am loathe to take up a Saurus skill slot or use a double on a skink.
