My pleasure!
I watched our match again - and this is what I thought.
T1I like your defensive play here, squishy skaven all marked up, one blitzer gfi-ing deep into my territory. Who cares if he fails? I got real problems already. And it pays off! By T4 I have had to risk it, had some modestly bad dice and gotten into all kinds of trouble, and you are caged up around the ball.
T4Here you push the cage too far. Only slightly, but positioning is everything in BB. With 4 more turns to score, having possession deep in my half, up in men, and half my team out of position, there is no need to rush at all. On offense it is a big deal if you fail a key GFI, and there is no rush. You don't want to score before turn 8, as I got every chance of a OTT with MA10.
I was thinking that I would just conserve my strength for the second half, save Harry Potter for the next drive and let you score. Now the thrower is out and the cage incomplete, I change my mind and zap the ball free.
Rest of first halfI thought you played it well here - obviously you needed some luck after I had stolen the ball and got it almost to your end-zone - but you went for it when you needed to. Only 3 turns to score with the play very spread - no point running the ball and being zapped by gutter runners. A longish pass to a blitzer comes off and there is nothing more I can do! Disaster for me. Wizard used, conceded on my kick off. The only silver lining was that you go for a dubious T7 foul, get a KO and get sent off.
The reasons it was dubious:
Player values similar-ish (it was only a rookie stormvermin)
You had 12 in your squad, but had players KOd, meaning a sending off could leave you short in the second half. And your 12th man was only a goblin anyway.
Only a CAS would really help you - a KO could easily come straight back
And most importantly... Fouling is very high risk and high reward. The game is going totally your way, so there is no need to push it.
Anyway - I wrote quite a lot on that as if it was a huge mistake - it was only dubious
T8Now you are receiving and I don't like your setup at all. (not in mentor mode anyway!) Only 2 blitzers back against a speed/AG team. And then, one of those blitzers in the backfield blitzes into my half! Your guy in the backfield is now totally isolated. It is made much worse when he fumbles the ball (really needed to use a reroll to pickup here given he was so isolated)
I know you had good chances of knocking down one of the grunners, saving some of the swarming that follows, but 2D blocks are only ever 75% at best.
You have left a blitzer in surfing range of the sideline, but are saved by Wild Animal.
Fortunately my luck picks up as I pass several dodgy dodge rolls to steam past you and swarm the ball, scoring on T9.
T10It is now 1-1. I think you are still set up too high (with my AG teams against bash, I almost always kick deep, and try and separate the backfield from line of scrimmage), but at least you have 3 back this time, and none of them go haring off up-field! This time it all goes smoothly for you... (thanks to another Wild Animal!)
T12You are now totally in control. Caged up, no need to rush. Most of my guys are blocking your advance, but the ball is surrounded by your entire team. As it is a playoff game, you can score when you like though.
T14Obviously this is the turning point. Your cage gets a bit tied up, guys left in contact, and your thrower makes a break for it, resulting in him being gutter runnered near my endzone, and that is the last you see of the ball. All you needed to do was keep things tight - I think it was exacerbated by some of your push blocks with Black Orcs - if they are key cagers, it may have been best not to follow up with them.
But even so, if your ball carrier had stayed in the pocket, even if I had pushed your guys away (a struggle with your ST4) and freed up the Rat Ogre and blitzed the ball free, I would still have had to dodge in and pick up the ball. And then thrown it to safety.
There was no risk free route, but there seldom is in BB.
T16At this point I was looking for the T19/T20 score to win the game - nothing else was important.
I was really pleased you surfed my stormvermin on the far sideline. Those guys could have been putting pressure on me to score more quickly at least... As it was, my stormvermin was off the pitch, but he was out of position here anyway. I would have marked him with the black orc (also unlikely to get back in the game) and then tried to dodge the blitzer away (late in the turn) to try and get back and force me to score as soon as possible, or risk losing the ball.
On T17 you risk some GFIs to try and get close to my ball carrier - but the very best you can do is force me to score on T18, and I think you can do this without risking the gfis. At least move the blitzer back first. As it is, this final turnover lets me run down the clock and score.
Overall, I thought you played very well though. I made (at least) as many mistakes as you did! (not mentioned above, but you know what they are!)
