Team value has to do with inducements. As the values of the teams are compared the difference is given as inducement to the team with the lowest value.
Two teams with the same players but one with 4 rerolls and the other without, makes a difference of 200.000. Effect the team without rerolls can now buy 2 rr. ( We talk Human )
Ever wondered why they mimic goats and say you bloat. It's their way of saying that they think you have taken a skill or sidearm that is not worth the increase in team value in their humble opinion. Most of the time they start their comment with the wise words; it's not that I want to intervene with your management style but ( That's the point the intervention starts ) that, and then they pick anything that's not mainstream, bloats the tv ( team value ). All those things that made you happy like dancing cheerleaders or an extraordinary skill is bloating your teamvalue. If they use that gold to bribe the ref and kick the hell out of you or you are struck by a Wizards Ligthning Bolt makes they have a valid argument perhaps ?
What causes teamvalue to rise more as the 20.000 each upgrade does anyway, it's the skills you can't pick normally or a stat increase ( there comes a time you want to read the rulebook ). Fans, cheerleaders, assistents, rerolls, apothecary, it all adds up. Team value management is about controlling the value of the team, does a lineman really need more as Block, Tackle, Dauntless ? His cost has risen to 110.000 already. Does that Dirty Playing lineman really need +ST, or did you give him DP because he is a cheap expendable ?
If you took cheerleaders because they are cute, great. Ever wondered what they actually do ? Perhaps you are not clicking away all those kick off results and have noticed they sometimes are mentioned. Mainstream says they are a bloat, is that a calculated opinion ?
Human teams are versatile, they can stick to natural skills to keep their team value low and have a wide range of skills anyway. Still having rerolls at the end of most matches, perhaps you can cut their number down. Another aspect is the way the computer schedules matches in matchmaking mode. It tries to connect teams around the same value. The computer while comparing the value forgets to add the value of loners you get for free. That's why in Auld some Chaos teams have 5 players only, 4 high level Warriors and 1 beastman with ballcarrying skills ( To prey on the weak, those loners are added and you get to use inducements most of the time, facing Claw armed piling on monsters ).
My advise: don't care about it during the start of your career, have fun and pick skills you like. It probably gives away some inducements and you have to face tougher opposition tough. Cheerleaders I love them, they add flavour to the game. Don't tell I did not warn you!
