We need to decide how we handle players that suffer permanent injuries. In the rules we don't allow coaches to fire players. The point is of course that coaches not fire players just because they don't like the skills these players randomly have gotten. If you can fire players at will it would kindof defeat the purpose of the whole random-thing. But it might very well happened that a player that has gotten some skills also gets a broken neck... that is of course nothing you want to keep on the team. How shall we handle this, any ideas?

Is it worth putting in a mid-season and end of season period where players can be released either for injuries or 'its just not working out the way we hoped'

I'd say eight game season or less, transfer/fire/whatever at the end of season at will, but not mid season. More than eight, maybe a week similar to the stunty window in cripple?

Yeah, midseason might be too 'soon'... then the curious randomness of the league might not ever even have time to show. End of season would be better. But I feel more like it would only be allowed o release or kick players that have gained permanent injuries. Or is that too harsh? Maybe you can never kick a player until he gets a permanent injury, but when he does you can kick him immediently?

It's one thing to keep a player with random skills, but keeping an important positional player with -st for example can be way too punishing. I doubt that people will start to exploit that.

Yeah. It's hard to exploit getting perm. injuries. One CAN of course line up an unwanted player vs. the opponents killer-players. But if someone wants to waste their player and several turns, evne the match(?), doing that just to be able to fire him if/when he finally gets the perm. injury.. well, ok.. have at it then.
Any more coaches who think this is a good idea? (That you can only fire developed players if they have gained a perm. injury.)

To make it easy I'm inclined to include 'niggling injuries' in the category of permanent injuries. It's good to keep rules simple.

My $0.02, while the idea of the league is to build a team based on Nuffle' queer sense of humor regarding Random Dice & then have to play around those skills; I also feel that we do not want a v.2 of Cripple Cup here. Yes, we should be able to replace players who are injured with either stat busts, or niggles. But I also agree that it should only happen during certain agreed upon points in the season - Squiggy #2 I think HMPass should qualify as a niggle

The problem I see is that standard built teams should be team value efficient. These teams are not. So why keep your silly team and not just bin them at the end of the season? Especially playing versus teams that can collect good inducements from your" bulk". There needs to be a good reward for nurturing your hopeless team. So the more seasons you stay in the league the more players you can change/ fire? Or something like that.

You have a point Gorgrael. One would hope that people keep their teams even if they are 'silly', since it is the point kindof. But if people just make new teams to use the inducements and gain advantage we might have to look into that. So far it seems that peoples intent still is to play and develop their teams according to the dice rolled.

Was there any conclusion here, for Season 2? It's important as it affects the viability of AV 7 races and Stunties.
If the vote is still open, I vote to be able to fire any permed player at will, including niggled ones, but that healthy players may never be fired. I agree with Smaka's point that we don't want the league to become an ersatz Cripple Cup.

Niggled players should be able to be dropped whenever, but not healthy ones. There has been no final descision yet, but I haven't heard any arguments that convince me otherwise so far.

This is quite a deal to discuss. If I were to decide... yeah. If a player obtains a permanent injury (niggling excluded, actually) then you can fire him/her at the end of the season. By then you'll have obtained enough money to replace whoever's been killed/permanently injured.
Why do I exclude niggling injuries? Because honest fact of the matter, it's still up to Nuffle if it causes that player to get a worse injury (or even death). All a niggling injury does is raise your chances of getting a worse injury than what is rolled (which, if I remember right, only even raises it by 1 (like if it was 32, it'll be 33, right?)

Not quite. It adds one to the 2d6 injury roll, which means ko on a 7+ and cas on 9+, without mighty blow. A significant cas rate increase and means a 58% chance of being removed from he pitch, ie ko or worse. More with mb or stunty
