Five down, two to go: welcome to Week 6! There's still a lot to be decided, as the middle of the standings became even more muddled this week. The two lizard teams appear to be in strong position to reach the playoffs, but after that it's a mess. And an orc team won in week 5! Against orcs...but who's counting?
Week 5 was especially bloody, offering up our highest single-week body count (4) and a slew of MNGs heading into this week. We'll see what effect the altered rosters have on the match results.

On to the matchups!
White-Handz (ORC) Hudd vs. Border Crossers (HUM) HAVOL
Big match with big playoff implications. The Handz have had a surprisingly subpar season by their standards, and the Crossers are hanging tough in a brutal Immortal gauntlet. The Handz season is hanging by a thread: anything but a victory this week will likely see them eliminated from playoff contention, especially considering Coach Jester's crew won during their midnight match. "Time to get seer-ee-us," growls the legendary Ugrsh. "I's tired o' carryin' these orcs. I been smashin' things all season, and we got one win?!! If these boyz don't turn it up a notch, I gotta kill 'em all. Hear dat, boyz? You on notice." Sounds like things are getting serious in the Handz locker room. Meanwhile, the BC locker room smells of indignance. "Typical media," complains blitzer Seneschal Wolf. "We're lucky to be in this position? We're the scrappy underdog? A playoff berth would be a miracle? Have you watched our last 2 matches? One word: Dom. I. Nant. And I don't want to hear another damn word about lizards." It appears this band of brothers is ready to rumble.
Sour Saurii (LIZ) jounisii vs. Gorland Skulls (ORC) gorbag1
There are two ways to view this one as a mismatch. On the one hand, we're looking at a matchup of the two-time champs versus an orc team that hasn't been able to buy a single break so far this season. On the other hand, have you seen the state of the Saurii lately? Their date with the Handz last week was exceedingly bloody. If these lizards weren't so good, we'd say things were looking pretty grim for them. Is this the break the Skulls needed? "No," hisses Bitter Basilisk. "Week 1 wasss a fluke. We can win with a team full of ssskinksss if we have to. We are ssschampionsss, and ssschampionsss we will ssstay. No one beatsss usss ever again." Bravado? Perhaps, but this team has earned its stripes (scales?) multiple times over. We choose not to doubt them, but what do the Skull think? "We win," boasts Krasha. "Lookit. Theyz kinda littul. Where all dem big lizards go?" Where indeed? Perhaps coach Hudd can enlighten us...
Pur'pl Pee'pl Eatr's (ORC) DocOz3000 vs. The Utopian Unicorns (WOE) Coach Jester
Perfidy! These two teams scheduled a midnight session in order to keep the media away, and have already logged their week 6 match. As a result, the Unicorns find themselves in the thick of the playoff hunt, and the Eatr's are all but eliminated from contention. "Go 'way," grumbles Ulgrot Break'Zom. "Mah neck hurts, and yer stupid." Okay then. The elves are no more talkative after their victory. "No comment," comments Samantha Sin. "After all, that was the whole point of the midnight match. We thought it would keep you types away. Apparently not." We are a persistent lot, aren't we?
Banana Warriors (LIZ) Parrigan Niall vs. The Hamnurglars (NUR) Michaels
Another match with playoff implications, this one could get bloody. With their week 5 victory, the lizards have guaranteed themselves a playoff spot, while the nurgle sit firmly on the bubble. Thus far the Banana Warriors have been frontrunners for the Lucky Bastard award, but we'll see what Coach Michaels's claws have to say about that. "You ssstill doubt usss?" questions veteran skink Nanner. "I've been here sssinsssce the beginning, and I'm here to tell you we're good. Real good. Thossse sssmelly guysss are good too, but we'll ssstill win." Sounds like the Warriors are starting to confuse luck with skill. "They confuse luck with skill," claims Ash the pestigor. "But you know what? Take the 'S' away and you get kill. And that's we'll do. Kill 'em. Then win." Neither team appears ready to give an inch. This one should be good. Or bad, depending on your perspective.
