So guys, I'm in need of some assistance, so i'll try and describe my situation as best as can.
Currently, I've got a Dark Elf time in Auld World. I've played a ton of blood bowl a few years back and I've been trying to get back into it, and while I can play my Nurgle team more-or-less succesfully (vastly different team, I know) I've been getting absolutely hammered while playing as my Dark Elf team. Granted, I haven't played in a long time, and I probably need to relearn Nurgle knows how many things, but my performance with my Dark Elves has been so atrocious I'm convinced I need help from someone to break the viscious cycle.
For reference, this is my current team:
1: Witch elf with Mighty Blow and Block. I gave her Mighty Blow a while ago since she's my main blitzer, along with my 2nd witch elf, and at the time it helped her rank up a bit faster. However, I haven't really been able to make much use of it lately, to say the least.
2: Lineman with block and dodge. One of the luckier ones
3: Blitzer with dodge and tackle.
4: Blitzer with dodge
5: Lineman that won't be available for my next game. Never got any spp but already has 2 injuries, one that reduces his MA by 1.
6: Lineman with block
7: Runner, no spp
8: Lineman with block. Already lost one MA earlier from an injury
9: Lineman with block
10: Witch Elf with block
2 rerolls
1 apothecary (this guy has more than paid for himself, even if I do lose 1 guy per 2 matches on average)
1 cheerleader (bought at the start, had gold leftover. I regret buying her now)
20k treasury
So to understand what I'm doing wrong, I'll try to explain my usual strategy. If I'm on the receiving end, I try to form a wall from left to right across the pitch with my linemen and blitzers, with only 3 "expendible" players on the middle line so as to not get all my valuable guys bashed on turn 1, using any elves not already being used for the wall to form a semi-cage around my runner with the ball. I try to move the cage towards the enemy line, and immediately get walled in by an enemy line 2 players deep. Any elves not already being blocked along my wall now break up the wall to form a cage around my carrier. At this point, my carrier faces a wall of enemies at least 2 players deep everywhere, meaning that if he somehow manages to dodge his way through the horde of enemy players surrounding his current position and get closer to the enemy endzone, He will probably get surrounded and blitzed on the subsequent turn by at least 3 guys, if not more.
By this stage of the game, which is turn 1-2, I will usually already have at least 2 guys hospitalized. I wish I was joking, but this has been standard for my past 3, maybe 4 games (and one of those was against a goblin player!). Most of my elves are being blocked now, which I guess is a terrible place to be in for a dark elf player, even more so since I usually face bashy enemies with a strength advantage too, like orks.
By this point, I usually give up on my current position, leaving an outer layer of the cage behind to tie up the enemy's players while moving my carrier away, with a modest number of elves to cage him in and keep him safe (about 3-4), with my intent being to run around the enemy's wall and try to find and/or create an opening. This is where I usually flounder, however. Since my TV is 1180, most enemies I fight already have a significant number of skills on their players, included the hated tackle skill, which makes it virtually impossible for me to dodge past anything. When I do manage to dodge past the enemy wall, even if I get some support in to create a semi-cage around my carrier, the enemy usually has enough guys on reserve to either blitz my carrier or surround him all over again. While I'm floundering, more and more of my elves are being punched into tender elf-meatloafs, with it being a fairly common occurence that by the end of the game I'll have suffered at least one injury that renders one of my players useless, or one death.
My treasury is severely deficient and my inability to win further cripples my ability to fix any issues my team has, beyond my obviously flawed strategy. My players keep getting more injuries, I keep being forced to play with mercenaries (which makes the game even harder to win) due to casualties and injuries, my TV won't go down despite the fact that I'm already down to 9 players for my next match... I guess the only answer there is to start over from scratch, but I guess I need to hear someone else say that before I act upon that conclusion.
Anyway! I hope that post was sufficiently informative. I guess it all boils down too "How does one break through an enemy wall that has no holes in it when the enemy wall is too strong to punch a hole through, while playing as Dark Elves"?
Any advice, literally any, would be appreciated.
