Interesting point Knockoff. It is true that loners isn't as bad a thing to have in The Crippled Cup as in other leagues, since you don't have any rerolls to care about anyway. And norse-loners are pretty good because of their block skill. But the same goes for dark elf-loners and their AG 4. You might have a point in there being some kind of advantage for a norse team that gets to bring in alot of loners... in the Stretcher League. But in the long run, you can't really count on the players to die. They might just as well just get crippled and then there is not so much of an advantage.
Considering how The Crippled Cup is actually meant as a perpetual league (Hospital League) and half dead team of norse will have a rough time when they want to continue playing their second season, I am not as sure of the advantage you speak of. But I would love some more input on this subject of course. I might not have thought of every angle.

Lets give it another go If your roster limit is "# of players" and you can, and do, show up to every game with "# of players +2" or more, the limit is a farce. This is especially true for Norse where a lino is, point for TV point, the best player in the system, and objectively better than higher costed elf linos or other journeymen. Players don't have to die for the principal to hold true. In CC, Norse linos are TV efficient to the point of absurdity. When you can start the 13 player team at a little over 700 TV, grabbing a bevy of loners (some with skills) isn't even a problem in the first few games of the season, let alone in Hospital when TVs are higher. 15 players with block is all I could really want from a CC team, and you can easily afford to keep the injured ones on the bench wile loners do the work. Because who cares if the loners get hurt? If you want positionals, you should buy positionals and weather the casualties like everyone else. The problem isn't so much that induced players are "overpowered", its that you have no need to worry about them getting hurt while the niggled guys just sit on the bench. And on a Norse team you won't need any additional skill for them to be awesome, so going through the trouble of developing those squishy rostered player is trivial. I think at the very least we should say in the future; "If the roster limit is X players, you may have no more than X players in any match". Anything else flies in the face of the roster limit logic.

I haven't so far experienced anyone regularly buying loners for their inducement money, but what you point out might very well be a loophole in the rules of course.

You're probably right and things will normalize moving going into Hospital. Its certainly not a widespread thing, but I'm about to stare down 14 norse linos or so and a Yeti in the final, which is not a comforting thought Anyway, it your show to run and I trust ya. Thanks for taking my feedback

I did it with my woodies the one time I had inducements and with two loners to take the brunt of the impacts and (for woodies) a very deep bench, I won the game very comfortably with no "real" damage. I think I have to second knockoff's comment.

In case of Norse - just make it necessary to buy at least both Werewolves, maybe even all positionals (in stretcher league), don't know about hospital.
I also was really frustrated to play vs Wingsteel's Norse in Stretcher's League PO, especially when he bought journeyman with tackle vs my skinks, cause we had such big TV difference.
To start with Yeti, thrower and 14 linemen doesn't look really fun for others.

So why not just ban buying mercenaries? Teams have loners to make up there teams. If I can just spend my money on players with any skills I wish custom for my next game, then the hole crippled system is pointless as I see it.

I'll make a thread about it and we can have a vote.
