ULTIMATE BOWER
The steps of the tournament (subject to change for each season)
1) Submit your team (new team)
2) Head coaches, pick their players.
3) Get to know each other
4) One head coach, pick one of his players, to go up against one of the opponent’s players, hopefully picking a match-up will that ensure his team win.
5) Arrange match
6) The match get played, and winner moves on. Loser most likely pack their bags (see details)
7) The head coach of the winning player, make the next match-up.
8) Repeat step 3-7, until all players for the Finals are found.
9) Start the last cup, and find the winner of the Ultimate Bowler.
10) If player is interested after Ultimate Bowler, they can continue their team in the UBC Ladder System.
STEP 1:
Information on how to sign-up will be coming soon. Keep an eye with this forum.
STEP 2:
When deadline is up, all the team submitted will be send to the two head coaches. Head coach 1 will get the first pick, head coach 2, will get second pick, then coach 1, will pick one team, and the two coaches will go back and forth, each picking a team, until all teams are divided out.
To avoid a league, that takes up too much time, especially for the first season, max. entry will be 16 players. The number of players, must be an equal number, to ensure the two teams, have the same number of players. The selection of players, will be a first come, first served, so if interested, submit as soon as possible to ApollosWill.
STEP 3:
Get to know each other. This is the most important step of this league, and is part of the agenda for creating it. Get to know each other. Each team and their head coach, will start a private message group, to discuss tactics, advice each other, and help strengthen the team to ensure, one of their team’s players are winning the next match. This group message, will also be a place for the team to discuss which two players should play the next match, but always remember, in the end the head coach have the final words. It’s his honor as a coach that are on the line.
There will also be a shared forum for the two teams. This forum is for arranging matches between the two players that have the next match, and certainly also for rivalry (keep it fun and with ton of fluff), especially between the two head coaches (the UBC foundation encourage this, to increase the number of viewers).
STEP 4:
It is time for the head coach that have the pick, to announced on the shared forum, which two players will face each other in the next match. He can make it as bravado as he wishes, but expect the same back from the other coach.
STEP 5:
The two players picked will be contacted on steam and by private message on this forum by ApollosWill to ensure they are aware and can get ready to play. As there is literally only one match pr. Round, please try to get this match play as quickly as possible, preferable 3-4 days in between every match. But as with any other league within Iron Phoenix, life outside is always more important, so a week is allowed.
If for some reason, one of the players, cannot play, a wild card will be picked, and that player will be eliminated. The wild card is picked by the head coach from the team with the absent play, and picked from the pool from already eliminated players, giving them a second chance to take home the crown.
If both players have tried to arrange a match, but just can’t find a time, that are good for both, the player that have offered the most available time (measured in hours), will be moving on. Hopefully we will not get down to that, as it does not sit well with anyone.
When the match is arranged, it is very important to announce the time on the forum, so anyone from the teams that are interested in watching, and able to stand in the corner, can be there.
It is encouraged, not frown upon, for team members and if able head coach, watching the match, are giving advice to the playing player. Steam is a great tool for communicating.
Also if courageous enough, Steam voice chat or Skype will be an excellent tool for coach and players to communicate while match is being played. A great way for all to learn, though note, that even when the head coach is having the finale decision with match-up, within the game, the player have the finale choice in what to do.
STEP 6:
The two players will fight it out. Each match, is a 4 min/round, play-off match with possible over-time and penalties (remember, leftover rerolls help with winning, if going all the way to penalties). What happens after, depend on the initial number of players.
If 16 players (8 players on each team), there will be 8 preliminary matches, set up and picked by a head coach.
Match 1: Winner take the next Quarter-Finale Spot. Loser pack his bags (but still be ready. Could be called back as a wild card)
Match 2: Winner take the next Quarter-Finale Spot. Loser pack his bags (but still be ready. Could be called back as a wild card)
And so on, through Match 8.
If 14 players (7 players on each team), there will also be 8 preliminary matches, set up and picked by a head coach.
Match 1-7: Will be as with 16 players.
Match 8: Each of the head coaches, will look at their teams, that lost their first match. They will each pick one of their losing teams as a wild card, and they will be playing this match, and Winner take the next Quarter-Finale Spot. An advice here, will be to pick a team with few injuries, maybe picked up some SPP in their first match etc. Each of the players should also keep this in mind, when playing their first match. Even if losing, they should try to ensure they stay strong, so it is more enticing to pick them as a wild card.
If the one team, have lost ALL their matches, that head coach, will pick both team from his crew.
If 12 players (6 players on each team) there will also be 8 preliminary matches, set up and picked by a head coach.
Match 1-6: Will be as with 16 players.
Match 7: Each of the head coaches will pick one of their opponent’s losing teams to play. It is important to consider, which team to pick, because even if their team loses again, the other coach can pick them for match 8 as well. Now, even if this team, have lost two times in a row, it is also a team, which have had 2 matches, with the gold and spp, that comes with it. The team is now starting to get an edge, especially if moving in to the quarter finals. With 3 matches under their belt, compared to teams that have only had one. The Winner take the next Quarter-Finale Spot
If the one team, have lost ALL their matches, that other head coach, will pick both team from his opponent’s crew.
Match 8: As with 14 players.
If 10 players (5 players on each team) there will also be 8 preliminary matches, set up and picked by a head coach.
Match 1-4: Will be as with 16 players
Match 5: Head coach 1 will take their left-over team, and put it up against one of his opponent losing teams, of his choice. The Winner take the next Quarter-Finale Spot. If the opponent does not have any losing team, Head coach 2 will pick one of Head Coach 1’s losing team, to play against each other.
Match 6: Head coach 2 will take their left-over team, and put it up against one of his opponent losing teams, of his choice. The Winner take the next Quarter-Finale Spot. If the opponent does not have any losing team, Head coach 1 will pick one of Head Coach 2’s losing team, to play against each other.
Match 7-8: As with 12 players.
If 8 players (4 players on each team) there will be 4 preliminary matches, set up and picked by a head coach.
Match 1-4: As with 16 players, except it will be Semi-finale
Step 7
After the match, the winning head coach (see step 6 for specific rules, depending on amount of players), will make the next match-up. The next match-up should be announced within 3 days, preferable earlier, to keep the competition going, and not the players waiting.
Step 8
Repeat step 3-7 until all finalist spots have been filled.
The Winners from team 1, will be assigned in the following Q-Spot as they win: 1-3-5-7-8-6-4-2
The Winners from team 2, will be assigned in the following Q-Spot as they win: 2-4-6-8-7-5-3-1
This should pro-long the time it takes, before two players of the same team, have to play against each other, and increase the chances for having a finalist from each team.
Step 9
When we reach quarter finals, this become more a regular knock-out cup. The head coaches will no longer set up the matches, and the focus will move from the team and head coach to the individual. There will be a reasonable chance for two former team colleague to face each other. If that happens, the former head coach from that team, should Not pick a favorite, and should in such case stay neutral.
Quarter finale match 1: Q-Spot 1 vs. Q-Spot 2
Quarter finale match 2: Q-Spot 3 vs. Q-Spot 4
Quarter finale match 3: Q-Spot 5 vs. Q-Spot 6
Quarter finale match 4: Q-Spot 7 vs. Q-Spot 8
Semi-Finale 1: Winner of Q1 vs. Winner of Q4
Semi-Finale 2: Winner of Q2 vs. Winner of Q3
Finale: Winners of the two semi-finales.
Step 10
After each Ultimate Bowler each contestant will be offered to enter the UBC ladder system. This is of course voluntarily. It will be determined before the start of each Ultimate Bowler competition, at what ranks the contestant will enter UBC, but it will always offer the opportunity to start higher on the ladder, than if you entered without the Ultimate Bowler competition. UBC is all about popularity with the viewers, and Ultimate Bowler is a great tool to gain such (and in some case notoriety, which is very good for Pay-per-view).
Ultimate Bowler I is unique as it is the Beginning, and after it is finale, it will start UBC.
The Winner of the Ultimate Bowler I, will also be the Champion of UBC, able to wear the crown for all to see and be envied.
Loser of Finale, will be ranked 2nd, and the first contender out of two.
Loser of the Semi-Finale to the winner of Ultimate Bowler I, will be ranked 3rd and the second contender out of two.
The other semi-finalist will be ranked 4th.
The Loser of the Quarter-Finale to the winner of Ultimate Bowler I, will be ranked 5th.
The Loser of the Quarter-Finale to the Runner-up, will be ranked 6th.
The loser of the quarterfinal to the 3th rank UBC entry, will be ranked 7th
The loser of the quarterfinal to the 4th rank UBC entry, will be ranked 8th
Rank 9-16, will be based on who leaves the Ultimate Bowler last. So, the first contestant to lose (and not become a Wild Card later), will be rank 16th. Next, rank 15th and so on.
If a player decide not to continue with the team in to UBC, all lower ranked player will move up one rank.
As soon as the next Negotiation of Challengers start in UBC, the teams will be allowed to participate.
And your team's legend continues in the UBC
