(1-0-0*) Meat Puppets vs. Furious Rage (0-1-0*)
(Necro 1030) Tector vs. Tencoin (Norse 910)
2 - 1 (Pen)
*Wins - Losses - Losses by Submission (UBC)The sixth match in the Ultimate Bowler, and the last match before the wild cards. Both teams ready to show Iron Phoenix, their team members and their mentors, that they will earn their place in the Quarter-finals. Longboats have been laying to dock all day long at the coastal city of the Homeland.
It was clear to see the difference in moral of the two teams of Rocketdeaths and Havols. As team Rocketdeath had taken four victories out of first five matches, they were also out in full support for Tector. A bit of support for Tencoin drizzled in later in the match. But it did not seem to effect Tencoin. He looked as focused and thirsty to win, as any other coach had.
Kick-off. Furious Rage receiving. Right away, as mentioned, Tencoin's focus was seen in his Brilliant Coaching. His team were pumped, even after most of their co-teams had faced defeat. But the Meat Puppets was set to take that courage away, and wipe the smiles off the Norse face quickly. As soon as a norse was tripped, zombies would be over him, planting kicks and fist, where nobody wanted them to be planted, trying to take them out, before the ref would notice what was happening.
Furious Rage made a cage, close to the middle of the skirmish line. Ivan the mean from the Meat Puppets drove to the left, than the right, and planted an uppercut on Sveinnmour, who went down to a knee. Ivan proceeded to take a hold of Sveinnmour's head, turning it in a direction it did not belong. But he would not yet meet the after-life the Norse so seek. His lifeless limbs started to move, and all knew what was to come. Sveinnmour had become a zombie, crawling to the reserve of Meat Puppets, where the necromancer, would put on the last strings, so he would be able to help out his new team.
Even with that sight, the Furious Rage kept their calm, and hold their cage tight. Meat Puppets is over the cage, trying to hold their opponent back, but no matter how hard or how much they hit, the Norse's armor (or in their case, skin and hide), hold tight. Frustrated to not be able to break them, Meat Puppets took hold of one of the Norse, and just tossed him to the crowd. An Ulfwerener paid them right back, dragging a zombie by it's leg, letting the crowd take care of the rest. While both team and spectators were busy with the side action, Grettir Vigfusson hold the pigskin tight as he ran it in for the first score. 1-0 to Furious Rage.
Meat Puppet received. Furious Rage was not only facing their opponent, one person down, but that one person was on the other side, drooling in his already decaying meat suit. Quick snap from the Meat Puppet. Continued with fouling. The ref sees it and send off a zombie. As the zombie walks to the send-off, Sveinnmour follows suit, and tries to foul an old team member. But the ref sees that as well, and Meat Puppets now have two zombies with a red card. Half-time.
The Weather stayed Nice, as the players got ready for second half. Meat Puppets had trouble picking up the ball, while Furious Rage tried to get to it. A norse marks the ball, but the duo wolves knocked him to the ground and finally picked up the ball. The Meat Puppets got organized and started to knock down the Norse players even sending a few of them to a time out. With the upper hand in players, the Necros moved down on the side line with a loose cage. But even against all odds, the norse were not giving up. They got a player in to mark the ball, but alone and outnumbered he got knocked away. The werewolf Sowarg Weylyn, ran for it, the Meat Puppets not taking the chance to stall. But a norse catched him, holding him up against the sideline. A wight and the other wolf came to Sowarg's rescue, assisted him in knocking down the Norse. At the same time, the Golem Gui the Cadaverous was having fun with an Ulfwerener, ripped his head off, and tossed it into the air. The head came down hard, and stunned him.
Sowarg, now free, ran the ball in for the equalizer. 1-1. The match really showed Brilliant Coaching from both teams. Only a few minutes left of the second half, so all Furious Rage had time for, were to get a few hits in, before the whistle and overtime.
Meat Puppets win the important toss and start with the ball. As the balls get kicked off, the Fans of Furious Rage are Cheering them on. The overtime were chaotic. Both team scrambling for the ball to score the sudden death touch down. Most of the time the ball were in no hands, all trying to get to it. And the overtime seemed over in no time, and all that was left to decide the winner was the dreaded penalty kick.
And Furious Rage failed their second kick with Meat Puppets securing the vicory and Tector, the fifth member of team Rocketdeath to do so, moved to the quarter-finals.
A very good match, that could have gone either way.
