3 - 0
*Wins - Losses - Losses by Submission (UBC)
Half way through the quarter-finals, half-way through finding the top four players, which will incl. the Champion and the two Contenders for the UBC.
The first quarter-final with Team Havol vs. Team Rocketdeath. The chatter have been going on in the corners of the taverns; Can Dragonvisper, only one of the two left from team Havol, take down, the famous Knockoff, who represented Iron Phoenix in the World Cup.
To turn the heat down a bit, the match was set in the cold north, at the Circle, stadium of the Norbagge United. To keep the dwarves warm, they Bloodweiser Babes had travelled with them, and was standing ready by the stand, with a fresh brew of the Bloodweiser.
When Ingort Kjelstaad and Langri Boritson entered the pitch, all the Norse fans got to their feet and starting chanting "Norbagge...Norbagge...Norbagge always United".
Norbagge were to receive first. Norbagge United did a Quick Snap before Chaos, Beards and Horns were ready. The berserker Sigvald Codpiece put his shoulder into the hobgoblin Hejami Giantstomach, proving that even if the stomach is big, a perfectly place push, can send you out for the rest of the match, injured. A lineman, knocks out a chaos dwarf. In a frenzy, an ulfwerener pushes another chaos dwarf right up to the sideline, and with a quick blitz from Langri Boritson, the chaos dwarf is getting stumped on by the hardened norse fans. Seconds in to the match, and the dwarves are down three players. Ingort secures the ball. What a bad start for Dragonvisper. Before even having a chance to give a command, this game seems over.
But this is Ultimate Bowler, and many amazing Bowlers have come back from worse. A Bull Centaur, gets a berserker to the ground, and almost before he hits the green, a goblin, fouls him. No damage, and the ref ignores it. A berserker knocks a hobgoblin into the Bull, knocking the Hobgoblin to the ground, and the bull to the sideline. A lineman, just seemingly taps the bull, and fans are ready to drag the centaur out, and finish him. With most of the field cleared, Ingort runs up, midway down in the dwarves half. Even unprotected, it does not look like any of Chaos, Beards and Horns, will be able to get to him.
A foul from another hobgoblin, but nothing happens. The norse wants revenge. They knocks down the dwarf Ratthak Burntsoul, and five norse gangs up on him, and starts fouling, until his ankle is smashed, and he have to be carried out. The ref blows his whistle, and picks one of the norse, Langri, one of the Norse strongest players, and gives him the red card. A bittersweet revenge for Dragonvisper.
The game have turned in to an unfair fouling feast. A hobgoblin puts his foot to a downed Ulfwerener, stunning him. The ref certainly have gotten enough and send that goblin off the pitch as well. A berserkers sends another goblin off the sideline, where the fans knocks him out. A setup push from one norse allows another norse to blitz a dwarf, sending him the same way as the hobgoblin, reducing them to only having three players left on the pitch. It's a blood bath. One of the dwarves was knocked to the ground. Not seemingly wanting to get up and back in the fight, the Norse surrounds him, and with a body slam from a norse, he is knocked out.
Ingort looks around, seeing the timer of first half almost done. He smiles and waves to his fans, and dances the pigskin in for a touchdown. 1-0 to Norbagge.
There is just enough time to send the ball off, for the dwarves to receive. As the ball is mid air, the norse does a Blitz, a quick exchange of blows, but nothing really happens, and we are on to second half.
Let's see if Dragonsvisper's Brilliant Coaching will help the dwarves, seven players against eleven opponents. The dwarves send the Norbagge's skirmish line defense to the ground, stunning two of them. The ball is deep in their end and they secure it. A bull standing between the Norse and the ball carrying Hobgoblin, is surrounded, and a frenzied berserker, knocks it out.
The other bull dodges away from a norse and takes off downfield. The hobgoblin hands the ball to another, who runs up the sideline and within mid range, tries to pass to the bull. The pass is accurate, but it slips out of the hands of the centaur. This gives the norse an opportunity to gain the ball. Dauntless, the runner Gruttar Trollburner blitzes down and pushes the bull away from the ball, and then runs in, and sweeps the ball up in his hands.
Khaarh Heavyblaster, gets up from the ground, placing an uppercut on Olaf Haraldson, and he falls down and lands on his hand, smashing it. He will surely be out for the rest of the match, and most likely the next as well.
With only six players left on Chaos, Beards and Horns, the norse have no problem moving up field. Gruttar makes a short pass to the berserker Sigvald Codpiece, which runs down and score. 2-0 to Norbagge United.
Everyone that was knocked out, have received the Bloodweiser Babes' treatment, and is ready to fight again. It will be eight against ten, the dwarves ready to receive. The ball lands a short distance from the skirmish line. Once again, the Norse makes a blitz, and sets up a cage, ready to catch the ball as it lands. Gruttar catches it with ease. The norse quickly turn the defense in to offensive. A dwarf makes a strange dodge in to a group of Norse, but his is quickly tackled and taken to the ground. The norse waste no time, and runs up the field. Gruttar makes a quick pass to an Ulfwerener, Hular Ulfeid, but the claws makes it hard for it to hold on to the ball. The two hobgoblins, playing as safety, tries to get to the ball, or at least making it hard for the norse to pick up. One of the bulls runs up from the back, marking the norse. A chaos dwarf tries to move his short legs in to position to support, but it is too much for him, and his legs gives out under him, sending him on his back. The norse pushes the hobgoblins away, and Hular picks up the ball. With the rest of the norse, opening a path for him, he runs the ball in to the end zone, scoring to 3-0, and the match is over.
A tough math for Dragonvisper, who still tried the end. Congratulation to Knockoff for reaching the semi-final.
