I actually just made a chaos dwarf team in Nagg. Haven't played dwarves or chaos before, because it was always mentioned that they were boring and/or overpowered. And first game I had, within turn 1, my opponent mentioned that as well.....but you know what? I really, really liked playing these chaos dwarves, and feel I have missed out. So I hope it's ok, I enter next season with a chaos dwarf team I was wondering about something in Iron Phoenix. Have there ever been talk about a Promotion and Relegation divisional system? For me I kinda like something like that (from my limited experience with Football Manager). About playing to get up in a higher division, and when a season goes bad, still have to play for it to avoid a relegation. Just curious about the thought on it (still feel like I'm too new in here to come up with suggestions, but couldn't help myself )

There are plenty of leagues with promotion and relegation. The TV bands are what make IP a bit different.
The way we do it means less games where there is a big mismatch in team quality. In fact these are virtually non-existent. I had 1600 TV orcs playing in the Big Crunch 2nd tier, playing 2000+ teams and got utterly smashed, game after game. This year is even less fun, back in tier 3 playing against rookie teams. My orc killer has broken the all time kill record for a season (5 kills now) only 5 games into the season. If you play in a big perpetual league it will be YEARS before you have a chance of winning a trophy.

Yeah, auld is only good for testing races, until you can find ANY private league with cool dudes to play in instead.
:-D After I found IB, I never played another pub game again. I left BB for a while. When I came back, I went straight to IP... not one pub game using Chaos Edition. No need. All the leagues/cups/open games I can handle in IP. Can't find someone for an open game? Use that time to whip up some fluff about one of your teams. The club/league of good friends is what makes the game the most fun.

Never thought that through. (and now completely off topic) I think I just got nostalgic, and thought back on an old football manager game (believe it was 96/97), I played with friends. I took the newest promoted 3rd division team, Wigan Athletic, and brought it all the way to Champions League (did never win, Champions league though). When I moved to the US, I didn't follow football much, but I did look back recently, and what did I see; Wigan Athletic, actually did make it to Premier League in 2005. I predicted that in my game .

Here if your team qualifies, you're in, and the leagues are always expanding to accommodate new members.

wow its funny i always thought of us as a Promotion and Relegation league in a twisted way, you self promote or relegate with your TV and Immortal is the one to strive for, build your team plot and plan to get to immortal, but if you plan wrong, miscalculate you will get hurt once there and fall back to iron only to plot and plan again, test builds for you next shot at immortal glory.. that's what i do

It's about doing what your team and/or coaching ability can handle.

*apolloswill runs into a corner, sits down with his face covered in between his knees, rocking slowly back and forth while repeatedly whispering* "I was so wrong...I was so wrong".
You are all absolutely right. I not only see it, I also find it should be one of the selling points for Iron Phoenix.

Then there's people like me, still screwing about in tin, imagining some glorious far off day when iron is a reality...but planning and plotting, always.

Give me a Tin championship any day over Immortal... Give me five seasons or so and I might at least make the playoffs...first season 0-0-9, 2nd season 2-2-3, definite improvement...
