So... you ever have one of those matches where you're physically pumped days in advance? It's the match of the week and you and your opponent know it! You look forward to it all week. You think about it during work while you're supposed to be doing some... well... work? Yeah, me too.
I love how this game can consume me. I love the times when I'm in the office and I catch myself thinking about how I won my last match. That lucky die roll. That lucky injury. That lucky pass. A great (read... lucky) win will always keep me riding high in the clouds for a few days. And when you string multiple wins together, hell... that's just the bee's knees, isn't it? But you know what the problem with wins or streaks like that is? That's right: the other side. The side where if you can just make that last effing GFI to get into the end zone, or just get in 2+ pass range, or just make ONE critical block, or just make ONE 2+ dodge... I know. I've been there. We've all been there. I hate that side. Makes me want to quit.
Somehow, we all log in again, don't we? We all straddle the lame-duck, bug-riddled, rigged-to-have-me-lose horse that is Blood Bowl, don't we? You know that loss and heartbreak is just on the other side waiting for you. You know your favorite player or team is just random meat to be ground into the turf. They're all dead! We all know this yet we keep coming back. Why? Well, of course; because glory also is there just on the other side of the end zone. If you could only make that GFI, you could taste how sweet victory is each and every match.
So, this I know: I hate this game. To my core. Yet no matter how much I abhor this game, it's a borderline obsession. I have to log in to check the standings. I have to check Steam like 20 times a day to see who's playing (does anyone else have the app on their phone?). I check the forum throughout the day to see who's talking about Blood Bowl. I have to play. Its in my blood. And I can't do anything about it.
I'm glad I'm your administrator. I'm glad I get to write intro's that you like (I hope, anyway). I'm glad I can provide you with 5 minutes time to distract you from your life. I like to dream and I'm glad I get the opportunity to hopefully sew some dreams within you. (dude, not gay AT ALL!) I'm glad I have this community to distract me from whatever I want to get distracted from. I'm glad we're a tight bunch. I'm glad.
So... niceties aside... It's Match Day 5. Blood still has to be spilled. Rankings, blah, blah blah. Look; just get out there this match day and let your opponent know he'd better think twice before committing his catchers to your half of the pitch without support! He'd better, if he knows what's good for his team!
Hopefully we can play our matches before Christmas. If not, the MD will roll Christmas Eve/ 24 December.
As always, upload your match to:

Severe Drowsiness v Sour Saurii
Coach Jounisii keeps marching right along. He's yet to drop a match since joining the battle for the Iron Crown. I keep picking against his team, and he keeps winning. I guess something is to be said for solid gameplay, eh?
Coach Longstreet just hasn't got things going this season. He's coaching a stellar team. Maybe his Drow just aren't getting paid enough? What do you think, Coach?
Prediction: The Sour Saurii will treat these drugged Drow as they would any other opponent; a speed bump on their path to claiming the Iron Crown. 3-1 for the Saurii.
Word of Borf v Gorland Inferno
The Borf rolled over their opponent last week. They'll be looking to do the same to the Inferno this one. Hope they don't get burned. Coach Manco is well versed in the ways of the proverbial bash. He'll try to exert his will against an equally versed Coach in Gorbag. The Inferno are coming off an impressive shutout vs Coach Longstreet. Can he keep it up?
Prediction: 2-1 for the Inferno! Coach Manco and his Borf will fly too close to the flame that is the Inferno. What happens when you get too close to fire, gentlemen? That's right. You get burned! I think an early cas or two will tip the scales for Gorbag and he'll roll ove the Borf!
The Night Hawks v Northern Pain
Coach Jester and his Night Hawks were finally able to punch through and claim their first win of the season over the Champion Neorromanticos. He may have a slightly more difficult time vs Smokey Dean's Northern Pain. Coach Deano is reeling. Has been all season. He'll look to turn it around this week.
Prediction: Jester is on a roll, folks. His AV8 is slightly better than Deano's AV7. A few Ko's will ensure the Pain is fighting from behind (again, NOT GAY!). Won't be enough against Jester's Coaching. 2-1 for The Night Hawks.
White Handz v Neorromanticos
MATCH OF THE WEEK!!!!!
I've been itching to watch this one. Two of the most decorated coaches in the Iron Phoenix square off with their best teams. Coach Hirumazeo is the defending Champion. Coach Hudd is the challenger, but also winner of the coveted Bronze Shield. In fact, it was Hudd's bastard Handz that bounced Hirumazeo's dirty rats from the playoffs. Hiru has vowed revenge. Urgsh and his crew have become more deadly. Wollack Melenablanca is 1 (!) SPP away from Legendary Status. You guys had better post this match time accurately because I want a front-row seat!!!!
PREDICTION: who do you hate more? Urgsh, or Wollack? I can't decide so we'll put it up to a vote, though I'd probably lean towards Wollack as he was instrumental in my defeat last season
Let's let the poll decide the winner, shall we?
The Maniac Medics v Slinky Jack's All Stars
MATCH PLAYED! 3-0 for the All Stars. Sounds like some BS, if you ask me. I would have predicted 2-1 for the Medics prior to this match. Dr. Hannibal Lecter, would you care to comment on what happened?
Banana Warriors v Babes N Blades
Another week another futile attempt. It's your guess who I'm talking about. I keep coming back, just like Coach Parrigan. We're both hooked, you see? I hope to not get killed and he hopes to kill. Sounds about right, eh?
Prediction: although it hurts me... 3-2 for the Warriors. I think I'm running on empty and my wits are at an end. Or maybe I'm just trying to reverse-jinx my opponent? Y'know, lull him into thinking he has this won? Then pounce? Yeah, right, PN knows me well enough. He'll prepare and he'll make me cry.
Ok... thanks for tuning in again, dear friends. Good luck on the pitch! See you next week.
