Greetings everyone and welcome to Iron Phoenix's second Open Market Drafting Phase!
We were pleased with the first round of trades, but there were a few hiccups last time, like any first experiment.
Hopefully we've perfected how we're going to run things moving forwards so we don't have any repeats of issues. (Giving us room to have all sorts of new issues I'm sure )
You might be new or perhaps you didn't participate in the Drafting Phase last time so here's a recap of the basics!
In approximately a week and a half when the last round of Silver Cup's seasonal play ends and we get the semis/finals done the Open Market will....well 'open', for lack of a better word. Really it's already open so if you want to put your team in you may do so early, but we recommend playing as many open matches as you can to earn extra cash! $$$ We will announce the date the Market will 'close'. Everyone will have 48 hours to get all their teams in. After that it will be impossible to get your team in. Round 1 will last for another 48 hours, Round 2 for the next 48 hours, with a final 24 hours to do any final selling/trading.
This will make the whole Market cycle 1 week long.
Each player may place ONE team for each race into the draft. The team MUST be a team that's either played in the Iron Phoenix Open or a team which has participated in Copper, Silver, or Gold. To register your team(s) you will need to take them out of the regular Iron Phoenix Open and join the League called Iron Phoenix Drafts.
We're giving everyone that 2 day grace period to get your teams in before the draft starts so make sure you enter them asap and don't be afraid to ask an admin for help. There is no ticket system so it should be easy to get your teams in quickly without needing to wait for verification. That said, because it's set up that way you should post a list of your teams which are participating to the iron-phoenix.freeforums.net/thread/3213/transer-sign-thread once you have them all into the league. Hdawg (yes i'm referring to myself in the 3rd person) is going to go over messages from everyone prior to locking the market down and if I see any teams in there which look fishy they get the boot. Obviously if it's one of you slackers and I have reason to believe you just forgot I'll try to contact you first, but make it easy on me. A list of your teams should look something like this-
Gorbag- Gorland Thunder (Lizards)
Gorland Brewers (Dwarf)
Gorland Templars (Bretts)
Gorland Skulls (Orks)
Takes one minute and I can see at a glance what teams each player is bringing to the table. CJ, Michaels, Nails, and Antman all have prize money coming from last round of Copper so once you have your winning teams entered catch me online and we'll have the appropriate Bank team give you your cash earnings. Silver Cup in the end will be matching those prize winnings. So again, whoever places top 4 from Silver come find me to get your money.
So last time our major problems were as such- Limited room within a team to buy players who were being sold off, and also having about 10 or 11 admins to chase around to get things rolling. This time things are going to be simple because all teams are being handled by 1 admin. There are Draft Teams for each race (minus Nurgle, sorry smelly dudes, you will be in next round!) and the only things these Draft Teams are being used for is selling players. There are also Bank Teams which will have spots vacant for Coaches and the cash to buy your players. But you can't just sell any player and not whenever you like. So let's get to the rules on selling players.
Rules On Selling Players
Players must have earned some SPP during open or tournament play in order to be eligible to sell to the market. If they're 0 SPP they're rookies and we don't want em, period! If they're injured....well, okay maybe we still want them, depends how good they are, but we aren't the cripple cup here! So each team may sell a maximum of two injured players. Unlike other players who just need to have some SPP on them injured players must be at least lvl 2 in order to qualify. Our definition of 'Injured' includes, stat-downed, niggled, MNG all of it! If there's red - he's close to dead! So pick your two players wisely if they've been damaged in some way.
There are also limitations of how many players you can sell to the bank teams per ROUND. In round one you may sell a maximum of 2 players (not counting your 2 injured players, they are always counted separately). After round 1 is finished you may then sell another 2 players to the bank team. Following the end of round 2 you may sell any remaining players at your own discretion!
Once players are sold to the bank team those players will be held (space permitting) until the very end of the Drafting Phase in case other teams want to pick up a player after missing out on the 'stars' they wanted. Then, any who aren't bought will be sent on to the actual Draft Team to be developed. IE: Your players you sell in won't just disappear, they'll move on and get more experience in the Draft League. Who knows, maybe next time one of the star players will be your old Saurus or Mummy! Be prepared to fight to get them back though if they're super cool <3 Injured players, unless lvl 3+, will always just be deleted right away. They've earned their retirement
As always you can sell players between teams as much as you want without limitations. That's what the Open Market is all about. If you see Kaiser has a really unusual jump up guy and you've got something you think he might want, try to barter a trade either player for player or for some money. We saw a handful of trades last time with Mercy Flush running his own offshoot sales emporium. Such types of trading hubs are always encouraged and makes the Drafting more realistic/fluffy/fun!
But wait, how does one sell a player you ask? Like the actual mechanics behind it?
PLACING PLAYERS UP FOR BID
Step #1 Click on your team.
Step #2 Click on the Team Roster tab like you normally would when wanting to purchase new players from the game.
Step #3 Click on the player that you want to put up for bids
Step #4 Underneath the full character model will be a button that says Put on the market. Click that!
Step #5 Put the player up for the built in value of the player.
Step #6 Put a post in the correct race thread if you want that slacker Hdawg to notice it faster and give you your damn MONAH$$!
Step #7 Accept the bid and then wait for me to finalize the purchase of the player.
Ta da! Easy money.
Alright so we've covered how many teams you can have in, how to get them registered, the rules on who and how many you're allowed to sell, and the mechanics behind selling. So what's left? Ahhhh the bidding!
It's changed a little bit from last time, but the end result should be about the same.
Bidding for Players
We'll still have a round 1 and then a round 2 of bids like last time, but all bidding this time around is going to be set and tied to a player. We still want to see bidding wars like last time, cuz those are fun! But this time money is locked in on a player once you've made that bid. So what does that mean, Hdawg? Can you explain it a little better? *grumbles* Suuuuure, i'd be happy to! *mumbles under his breath*
Example: We have 'Sexy Beastman' up for sale!
Michaels kind of has a thing for Sexy Beastman as it fits the theme of his Chaos lads so he puts in a bid of 120k during round 1.
Antman has his own chaos team and he wants Sexy Beastman for himself. He bids 130k.
Under our old system Michaels could then go 'mehhh fuck it, i'll spend my money on someone else' and take out his bid, but now under the new rules it's cash tied to that player.
He can either A: increase the bid on Sexy Beastman to beat Antman's bid or B: he can wait till round 2 to get that money free again. It's locked for now as he was outbid.
What this new rule is meant to limit/address is folks bidding up players they had no intention of buying to make another coach pay more. It also encourages what we like to call strategic bidding. IE: anticipating which players are going to be hot commodities and bidding accordingly. Everyone going to be fighting it out over that Skink that's agility four in round 1? Well, maybe you'll slip in uncontested and snag that Str 3 skink for rock bottom prices.
We discussed bids being silent, but for the locked in cash system to work we need to be able to clearly see who is bidding on what. Just like last time we'll use the forums to communicate what people are bidding on. After you place a bid on a player post to the appropriate race thread with your bid.
-Chaos-
Michaels: Opening the bidding for Sexy Beastman at 120k.
Antman: I bid 130k.
That's as simple as the post needs to be. I'll check periodically throughout the drafting phase and try my best to keep an up to date list of ALL players on all teams who have outstanding bids on them for folks to see and plan out who they want to try and bid on. If you have any questions fire them at me and we'll see you in the Iron Phoenix Drafts. Good luck and happy bidding!
