Well, fellow blood bowlers, looks like we've made it. Yes, we're battered. Yes, we're bruised. Yes, absolutely tired! But we've made it. This is akin to the 25th mile of a marathon (friggin psychos) where your legs are pumping battery acid and your mind is frayed, but your spirit remains unbroken. Together we'll see this season come to an end and crown our Champion (gay).
Entering the last week of the regular season, more could not be at stake for the majority of the league. Sure, some teams are 'safe' and have earned a spot in the post-season, but that doesn't put them out of the fire on this last Match day. Only two teams find themselves as casualties of the grind that was Season Six. Every other team stands a puncher's chance to continue fighting for glory. But that's not to discount the fact that each of these teams may still play spoiler by hurting other teams' chances for success in their quest for the Iron Crown.
Since we're slightly ahead of schedule, the 'official' week will begin on Wednesday, 04 February and run thru the 11th of February; 2100 GMT-8 (same as always).f
Continue to upload your matches as I love watching all the carnage unfold
League: IP Iron League (S6)
Pword: 123
The Matches:
Sour Saurii v Babes N' Blades
So this is finally it, Jounisii. You finally get to try to lay a hand on my babes after weeks of ribbing. Granted, being short two players, including my star Witch will certainly help. That being said, your skink corps is looking mighty tough. Plenty of DT to slow my movement while your Saurii bash away is certainly a great tactic. Regardless of the result, I think I've made the playoffs and have already over achieved because of that
PREDICTION: a 2-1, maybe even 2-0, win for Jounisii as I try to limp into the playoffs with as full-strength a squad as I can manage.
Banana Warriors v Slinky Jack's All Stars
MATCH OF THE WEEK
Lezzie on Lizzie action?! Yes Please!!! (wait.. I already used that one? well sheet...)
Parrigan Niall finds himself holding the 7th spot. I found it funny that such a great coach and such a great team found themselves on the dirty end of the winning stick for most of the season. Riding a winning streak in which he's slithered back into contention, the Warriors look to move up in the ranks and possibly play a less-scary team the following week.
Coach Insidious and the veteran All Stars have other plans, however. Currently just a single point out of the finally playoff spot, Cap'n Jack Flash and crew hope to stunt the Warriors' bid for a post season berth. Always the bridesmaid and never the bride, Coach Insidious will hope to turn this trend around.
PREDICTION: Real hard to say. Parrigan comes into the match down a Saurus, but his Krox is also +ST so can possibly tie up more than his shares worth. I think this will come down to the Skinks, though. Parrigan's AG-boosted lads will be the difference. 3-2 for the Warriors. Sorry, Sid. Maybe next season
The Maniac Medics v Neorromanticos
So... Stig's team has been my bane and every one else's bye, it seems. And we visit them almost at their worst; after a brutal season that is almost over. Yes, the pain will end soon, Stig/Jester/Manco... just one more match
And to think I was lucky enough to play the Neorromanticos a few seasons ago when they were at full strength. What Coach Hirumazeo is forced to field is a sad representation of what this team used to be. After losing his star ghoul, I don't know what can hurt this team more. Well... yes i do. Losing that super-star wolf. So long as he's on the pitch, victory is definitely within reach!
PREDICTION: 3-0 for the Neorromanticos. The Medics have nothing left and nothing to play for, save completely ruining Hirum's post-season chances.
White Handz v Northern Pain
MATCH PLAYED
Very surprising because I figured it would have been Deano on the end of the injury ladder. And figured the score would have been around the 2-0/ 3-0 neighborhood... Good job, Deano!
The Night Hawks v Gorland Inferno
Just two measly points back from the last playoff spot is Jester and his Night Hawks. They've been tough all season long, sporting two more draws than the next closest club. Sadly, they've been lacking the elusive wins, and that's what Coach Jester will look to gain this week versus his opponent.
Coach Gorbag and the Inferno will do their best to play spoiler in this round. They don't need a win. All then need to do is prevent the opposition from winning. Boasting just enough tackle to negate all the dodge by the Hawks.
PREDICTION: 1-1 draw... again. Maybe next season, Jester.
The Borf v Severe Drowsiness
The best team in the league as of MD 8 is no more, gents. Having dropped two spots doesn't bode well. How is it that he's the third ranked coach, but still the underdog vs the 8th ranked coach?! Though Manco and The Borf are down, they are certainly not out! They're certainly making the playoffs, so possibly, Manco and the Borf will allow the drugged druchii pass and decide to collect later?
Coach Longstreet lives for these matches. Out gunned? Out manned? Yes, neither of these conditions scare our coach much. A true, weathered veteran, Longstreet will handle this threat like he does all others; with guile and stealth...
PREDICTION: 3-1 for the Druchii. Maco will find that the slope is very slippery and trying to find a hand hold on Mount Longstreet will prove to be very difficult. Both teams will progress into the post season, however.
All right, fellas, that's all I got this week. Good luck to everyone not name Jounisii or coaching a Lizard team
See you in the playoffs, you bums!!!
