And the week season rolls on! This week, we're treated to a bit of an unexpected surprise as the Crimson Crosses are under new management. Coach Oz will remain as the on-field director, but after an overhaul of the front office staff the Crosses have vowed to take a different approach to the remainder of the season. So, those teams that benefited from the admin decisions, count yourselves lucky. No more freebies from here on!!
The week will roll next Wednesday, 17 June. Please post your availability on the forum no later than Friday evening. Continue to upload to BBM. I like the fact that there are no kids here All grownups who continue to do the right thing. Thank you. Your admin does appreciate it!
THE MATCHES:
Gorland Harbingers v Dead Man's Shoes
A tough loss sees the Harbingers sink further into the basement. On the other side of the pitch, DMS have rebounded well after the loss of their co-captain, Tuankhamun the Embalmed. This week, both teams face off with nearly identical Team Value.
PREDICTION:
The Harbingers have very well developed Zombies and boast a +ST Blodge Wight. Some might call the Zombies a bit bloaty, but hey, who the hell are we to judge, right?! DMS will counter with the Asse brothers and Ulric the Grim. Ulric and the front office have re-negotiated his contract and paid him as befits the best player for DMS. Will it pay off??
AA: Mano a mano, or dead-man-o a dead-man-o as the case may be! This looks like it is going to be a rough one for Harbingers. So far, they haven't won a game this season, while DMS has yet to lose. I'm afraid with all the extra guard and movement on DMS, GH is going to have a rough go of it. That being said, if Coach Gorbag can take out at least a couple of the Asse-men, I think he may have a chance. My prediction is 2-0 DMS, but I'll be rooting for the underdog.
Moar Dakka!! v Banana Warriors
Coach Wenteros might be the best coach at disrupting his opponent's gameplan this season. He's usually giving up between 100 and 400 TV to his opponents, but has yet to lose a match! The Banana Warriors, on the other hand, are coming off two back-breaking losses. A win is sorely needed to bring this club back into contention.
PREDICTION:
Though the Warriors will give up a whopping 400k in inducements, I don't think it will be enough to overcome a this fantastic team. Moar Dakka will find themselves out-guarded and out-strengthed. I mean, a wiz, bad-habits, babes, and an apoth? Is that enough? I don't think so: 2-1 for the Warriors.
Mad Hatterzz v Neorromanticos
This is turning out to be a nightmare season for Coach Deano and the Hatterzz. Match after match, they have come away with the sting of having a key player killed or MNG for the next week. This week's injury will have them field one less blocker. Coach Hirumazeo meanwhile is finally fielding his healthiest team in many seasons. Important SPP's gained on his supporting cast mean that Wollack and Zarrapastroso shoulder less of a burden from week to week.
PREDICTION:
If the Hatterzz can employ some effective foul play early and pressure Neorromanticos into a positioning mistake, then I think they have a shot. However, if the wiz fails and either wolf wreaks havoc, then I see Deano's woes continue. 1-1 draw in a solid match between these veteran coaches. The only real question is, will Deano field a full healthy squad for next week?
The Snow Cats v The Mighty Borf
Newcomer, Coach Astoner, had performed admirably this season. He's shown that he's not just a pretty face His Snow Cats are firmly n position to move into he post season. He just needs to keep healthy. Coach Manco is another suffering veteran coach. Match after match, things have not gone his way. Well, if he's going to right his ship, he'd better do it quick!!
PREDICTION:
Both teams are coming into the match a little banged up. Manco will be without his defensive Blitzer and Astoner without his star runner. TV difference will be negligible as the Snow Cats are pending a skillup on a rookie lino. This will come down to good old fashioned brute force. I predict whoever receives the ball will cause key casualties and score easily. But it won't be enough. These teams are evenly matched; 1-1 draw in a classic slug-fest.
Slinky Jack's All Stars v Vengeance of Khorne
MATCH OF THE WEEK!!
The battle of two of the top four teams. Two veteran coaches. Two very effective teams. One bonafide killer. Coach Insidious has steam rolled his way to the top of the standings with sound play. Coach Hudd, while earning the draw more often than not, has left destruction in his wake. King billy has tallied a total of 18 cas and KO's combined; more than most teams will garner all season!!! How does one counter that beast?!
PREDICTION:
The All Stars will give away roughly 100k in induce. I'm not sure that's such a great idea to that blood thirsty team. The good thing is that King Billy can only hit one player per turn This will come down to the casualty battle.... again. In the end, I see this as a 2-2 draw as Sid's skinks will save the day late. Now... as for how bad Billy wrecks that fabulous Saurus core??
Crimson Crosses v The Utopian Unicorns
The Crimson Crosses will have their work cut out for them, for sure, as they host the Unicorns. On the verge of making a playoff run, they will need a good showing to climb back into contention. The Unicorns are coming off the correct type of match. Yes, they may have lost, but they were able to regain some health. Only missing their AG5 lino, Coach Jester will field a very competent team. Peter Northwood will look to continue his bashing ways against the soft-armored 'oomies. His main target? That's right... the niggled Ogre.
PREDICTION:
Though the Crosses will match up well versus the speed of the Unicorns, the Unicorn mobility will be key. As both teams boast enough guard, the Unicorns should be able to place it where they need it most. So long as they don't bunch up and allow all the Mighty Blow to take its toll, I see this match going in favor of the Unicorns; 2-1 victory!
That's all for this week, gentlemen. Enjoy your matches!
