Another Season. Another Champion will be crowned. 16 coaches gather as equals to determine who is best. This is the magical part of the season where every single coach and every single team stand on the same footing. Each coach has high aspirations to wear the Crown. Each coach will dig deep into themselves for the mettle necessary to see thru this brutal season versus fully experienced teams. Many will compete, but only one will taste total victory!
Gents, as we go thru this season, please post your match availability by Friday and have your match played no later than Wednesday evenings in PST/ GMT-7 timezone. I plan to run the Match Days from Wednesday to Wednesday. If you require an admin action, please ensure you and your opponent are both on the same sheet of music before the request i.e. upload to BBM if you want a validation.
For BBM, please upload your matches to IP Iron Crown S9 G1 or G2 (of course, this depends on your group). Password is 123.
Right, on to the matches:
Group 1:
The Waldos v Neorromanticos
trs74 v hirumazeo
The Waldos are looking to make a name for themselves. Armed with a deadly complement of skills, Blitzer Grimm White is looking forward to the first test of the season! None other than Wollack Melenablanca and the Neorromanticos stand in his way. Coming off a heart-breaking loss to the scaly scum that are the lizzies, Wollack will surely look to sink his claws into some green flesh, scaly or not!
PREDICTION:
Only 20TV separate these teams. It's a very even match on paper. However, that's where we need to take a closer look: The Waldos have a good spread of SPP between their team whereas the Necro's have two scary wolves. I think this will depend on who causes damage first!
2-2 Draw! Very even. Tough to see either coach giving up despite injuries.
14 Things to do with Orcs v Valerian Vegans
jounisii v Insidious
Bronze Shield Runners-up, 14...Orcs are also looking for a bit of revenge! Seems like those filthy, scaly, lizzies have done so many coaches wrong! With a good-looking developing killer chaos team, Coach Jounisii and his aAss-Wiper are hoping to propel to a fast start.
The Vegans, on the other hand, will look to dazzle and leap to victory. Surely, Melissa the Dancer will look to set the tone.
PREDICTION:
2-2 draw. I see both coaches bringing their stomping boots to this party. And with only 1 Apoth per side, casualties and KO's will mount. As the teams are whittled down, however, I see the Woodies coming into their own and evening the score.
Khem in your face!! v Norbert Fish and Co.
deano v shaun
Fielding what appears to be a Bronze team, Coach Deano was not going to be one to miss out on this one! Surely an underdog, he'll revel in the inducements his opponents will concede. First up is none other than the infamous Norbert and Co. Though Norbert is the second-banana to big-bad Nathan Bass, he's looking to leave his mark!
PREDICTION:
2-0 for Mr. Fish and Co. Too much muscle and not enough skills for the Tomb kings. All I realistically expect Coach Deano to do is pick up much needed SPP's so he can upset coaches later in the season. Sorry Dean
MinMax Machine v Gilgameshi Gobbos Inc.
Comfort v RTSD
Wow! What an offseason for the Bronze Shield Champs... Thinking they were going to get a few friendly scrimmages, the MinMax Machine was in for a ruuude awakening! MAybe you should have just gone on vacation, eh, Comfort?
RTSD has finally left Bronze! Taking just shy of 15 season to do so (), he fields a frighteningly deadly yet fragile team. Kane will continue to lead the way until he buys the farm. But until he does... I think only Takzog rivals this player in sheer brutality ( Urgsh who?!)
PREDICTION:
Something tells me that the MinMax woes with losing players will continue. Something tells me that the Gilgameshi Gobbos will make a helluva mark in Iron Crown. 2-1 for the Gobbos. Nuff Said...
Group 2:
Gorland Harbingers v Moar Dakka!!
gorbag v wenteros
Old foes meet again. This time, however, Coach Gorbag has a much improved team which he hopes is what's needed to advance to the Playofffs. Anchored by a fully developed Zombie squad, Coach Gorbag will do his best to put a dent in that fearsome Blitzer corps. Coach Wenteros is not new to Iron. He's not new to the uphill battle he faces. In fact... I kinda' thin he'll enjoy himself...
PREDICTION:
2-1 for the Greenskins. Though the Harbingers boast a solid core of Zombies, they're just that. Zombies. They'll get tied up away from the action or picked off one at a time by the Orc Blitzers. Then it'll just be a matter of time...
Blood & Snot v Feygrim Executioners
Mercy Flush v Hudd
MATCH OF THE WEEK
Was there a better rivalry in Bronze than this one? Did any of you see the playoff match between these two? You missed a great one if you didn't.
Coach Mercy has surely not forgotten the gameplan to victory over the Executioners. It's fairly simple, really. Bash them nice and good Blood & Snot will be fielding a well-rested team whereas their opponent appears to be reeling. Barely fielding 11 healthy players won't bode well. How will Coach Hudd react? It'll be very interesting to see (after all, having an MA10 Wardancer will solve many problems on the pitch, eh?)
PREDICTION:
2-1 for the Executioners in another nail-biter! I expect Coach Hudd to get the bash-end of the stick, but will pull off an amazing comeback with no more than 4 or 5 players. All that movement is tough to deal with. How will Coach Mercy react?
The House v Purple Doom Skull
ThreeClubs v Parrigan
The house has built a respectable team; The Cashier leading the way. Having only 18 matches under their belt, one has to wonder if they're ready for such a large stage. Coach Threeclubs will certainly push his squad to find out.
Grumpy and the rest of the PDS are uber excited about their chance to compete (trust me). Johnny Doom and Hamfist Harry will do their best to lead this crew to the championship, but we may have something to say about it...
PREDICTION:
2-1 for PDS. Hamfist Harry will take the lead. The rest of the team will just fall in behind those big ol' hamfists. I think these two teams are too far apart for this particular match.
Exit... Stage Left v Worri Yallock Miners
Havol v Jester
The Rockstars are looking to prove they're not just a second-rate hair band in tight leather pants. They've joined Iron to prove they can rock as hard any other Necro team out there (yeah... looking at you, Hirumazeo )
The Miners, on the other hand are just looking to prove that they can be coached! This recent Immortal team may be a bit under-matched this season, but it's no matter to these diminutive dorfs; they're just looking to bash in some heads.
PREDICTION:
Hmm... A tall order in this first match day. I mean... have you seen the stats on that DeathRoller?!
1-1 Draw. I just hope my wolves live to see MD2!
Wellp, that's all for MD1 gents. Enjoy the week and bash some skulls!!
