So we had an interesting conversation in my table top league this week and thought I would see where everyone else fell on this rules question. The question is, Can an active player re-roll the knockdown roll when a bomb explodes after thrown by a bombardier?
The ref ruled that yes they can based on the line of the rule book under re-rolls that says "A coach may use a team re-roll to re-roll any dice dice roll(other than scatter, distance, direction, armor, injury, or casualty rolls) made by a player on his own team and who is still on the pitch during their own turn." Basically, since it does not exclude Knocked Down rolls, he said that yes a re-roll could be used.
I disagree, but didn't want to argue about it right then and there, but if I am correct, I will bring it up between seasons. My argument is that there is no player to use the re-roll. Once the bomb throw has been determined, there is no longer a player associated with the action and that the bomb itself is making the knock down roll and bombs can't use re-rolls. It is the same argument I would make on why you can not re-roll a wizard lightning bolt, or fireball. There is no player associated with the action.
I know cyanide does not allow rerolls, but I want to keep this to the TT rules. What do you guys think?

I agree. Once the bomb's thrown, everything is one shot. If your roll failed, complain to Nuffle. I can see where your ref's coming from, but even if that were the case (and assuming the bomb's throw was spot-on) then the re-roll would possibly only apply to the Bombardier's team, since I rarely, if ever, see a chance to re-roll a failed catch of a bouncing ball when the ball-holder accidentally goes down and drops said ball.

In the tabletop rules, the bombadier's coach s the one who rolls the dice for fireball, not the player being hit, which means the player being hit, assuming it is on the opp;osite team, cannot use a reroll simply due to the fact the bomb was thrown during his opponents turn, and the rules strictly state you can only use rerolls in your OWN turn.

Agreed about not being able to use a roll outside your turn, but both a bombardier and a wizard would be used during your own turn which is what opens up the question. Now if the bomb is intercepted and rethrown by the opposing team, definitely no reroll is possible.
