Wow! What a week. Your Administrator has had his work cut out. On top of moving over 800 miles and starting a 'new' life, he has had to watch some dreadful matches. He has not seen such futility since he, himself lost his last two playoff bouts. Dorf Runners stubbing their toe on an unnecessary GFI? High elf catchers that can't catch? Such dreadful play! I quit!!!!
LOL! As if I could
Quite the opposite this week, gentlemen! The only dreadful part about the past week was having to live out of a suitcase and eating out every single meal Everyone's play on the pitch has been exactly what this league is about; tough, hard-nosed Blood Bowl. It would be a pleasure to have an 'Immortal Couch' so it could accommodate you all. Sadly, the Immortal Throne has only enough room for one. The crowd is closing on the incumbent champ. Their shoves are starting to get more serious. Coach Goodpass is clutching his seat as hard as he can to stay seated and rule the Iron Phoenix for another season. I wish you well, Goodpass.
Right... on to the good stuff:
Falcon Firebirds v The Grudge Bringers
Everything was going smooth for Coach Goodpass and his Champion Firebirds until the failed catch by his star catcher: Daugien Aldaren. All that came after was from the depths of his worst fears. Plauged by 1's, Coach Goodpass was able to do very little to stem the greenskin tide that came to steal his inevitable victory. He took the loss with the stride of a proper Champion, however, keeping his curses to himself lest Lord Nuffle catch wind...
After emerging as the other favorite in Immortal to vie for the Throne, Coach Deano and his Bringers of the Grudge were brought to a harsh reality after their tussle with The Borf. Yes, cheater Dorfs are bestowed with great armor, but when your opponent has the claw spam as Coach Manco does, well... it brings you back to reality (kinda' like playing Norse, eh, Deano?) Though the match was fought to a draw, the price was paid by The Grudge Bringers. The Dorfs had to burn two of their dead in a pyre. Be assured that the names of each and every member of The Borf, to include the coach, were included in their Book of Grudges!
Both Coaches will meet on the pitch this coming week to decide playoff seeding. Coach Deano has the inside track to one of the top two spots. Coach Goodpass must not lose to avoid missing the playoffs (good thing we went to a 4-team format, eh, Goodpass:) ).
Prediction: Coach Goodpass will return to form. He will dodge and dance his way over the short Dwarven line. Coach Deano will win the injury battle, but will still join the playoffs with a healthy dorf team. 2-0 for the Firebirds.
Gruumsh's Glaives v Gorland Harbingers
The Glaives finally got their win. And boy, did they ever deliver! This coach thought the match was going to be a one-sided affair with the Elves coming out on top. Coach Insidious rallied and let his inner WAAAGH! roam freely out all over the pitch (is that nasty?). For a 'passsing' Orc team, the Glaives sure brought the pain! Is it too late for the Glaives?
Coach Gorbag and his Harbingers faced the favorite Anubis Serpents head on last week. They gave the Serpents all they could handle, folks. If one thing can be said of Coach Gorbag: Don't underestimate him! He's always looking to lay the smack down! If not for a few rolls that went the other way, Coach Gorbag would have pulled off a pretty sweet upset! Having to field two rookie mummies (what, did they just get embalmed, or something?!) and an inexperienced ghoul backfield, it'll definitely be an uphill battle for this squad. I still have faith, however!
Prediction: Coach Insidious returns to remind the rest of us not to dismiss his team so suddenly. He knows that the possible tiebreaker will come down to the TD differential. Coach Gorbag will do his best, as he always does, but the Glaives' spam guard will be too much for those rookie mummies to overcome. 3-1 for the Glaives.
Anubis Serpents v The Borf
MATCH OF THE WEEK
Coach Jester and his Anubis Serpents have come to reckon with everything Immortal! Boasting the only current living (?!) Immortal Hall of Famer in the Iron Phoenix, he's currently carving a dusty path through the rest of the league! Emerging as the favorite to usurp the Throne and rule over the rest of the Phoenix, all Coach Jester needs to do is simple: KEEP WINNING!!! Sounds easy, right, coaches? Well, hell definitely be tested on this final Match Day by his Admin counterpart, Coach Manco and The Borf.
Usually the Serpents can 'hide' behind AV9 Tomb Guardians that will hold up to the worst of killers. Not so this week as The Borf sports no less than 5 claw players. Should be enough to deal with four Tomb Guardians, right? Well, Coach Manco had better hope so!!!! At stake for Coach Manco is, possibly, the top spot in the Immortal playoffs, and the satisfaction of utterly destroying the favorite to usurp the throne.
Prediction: Coach Manco's claw will take it's toll. However, Coach Jester's experience and perseverance will pull him through to see the day won! I expect the Serpents to win 2-1 but lose an important piece to their successful playoff run to The Borf's Claw/MB spam.
As always, Coaches, good luck! Remember to upload and give the opposition hell!!!!!
