The 'mirror' week was a near replay of MD3 with one exception; Coach Gorbag's defeat at the hands of the Keydets.
Coach Gorbag and his Scrubbers nearly had the victory. It was close, folks. I could taste it; and before you ask; No, it wasn't the leftover grease on the jerseys of the Scrubbers. Alas... a few more bad rolls (seriously... if blocking were as easy as flipping a burger, these guys would be on top of the lead!) and Coach Gorbag finds himself in familiar territory... I'm right there with you, buddy Nothing better to deal with misery than good company, right?
However, it wasn't as complete a victory for Coach Deano and his finely-drilled Keydets. Chinks began to show in their finely-polished armor. Missed blocks? Failed pickups? Bobbled passes? Yep... all the signs point to low morale for the troops. Hey, what do you expect when all your spare time is spent marching around campus?! These young party boys need to let loose! What do you say, Coach Deano? Do your Keydets deserve a holiday?
Big Boss Bloodmaw is sure starting to be a force to reckon with! If he keeps up this pace, he'll surely be recruited into the Big Leagues in no time! All match, he was spotted in the thick of things getting bloody. Not with his blood, of course, but with that of the opposition.
This week saw The Flash return after a short stint on IR only to exit the pitch in a worse fashion... yes, that's right, gents: a bodybag. The New Avengers are at a crux in their progression; do they try to recruit another Flash (probably the Barry Allen one) or try their luck with one of the Green Lanterns? (I'd vote for Guy Gardener!) They'll have a few days to think it over before they travel to Sylvania U and meet the equally bad TKB on the pitch.
As for those bums... Yeesh. Tappa Kegga Bru is a hot mess. They can't catch. Can't block. Can't dodge (at least not when it matters). Shut out now for three consecutive weeks, the future looks bleak. How will President Kane rally his boys? Correct, dear reader; by biting the shit out of them and making them fear for their pathetic lives! First thing's first, though.... Coach Havol needs to stop pretending these players are clad in something more than cotton underwear and leather straps (so sheik!).
Venk Drakenhof and the Elite are coming off of great back-to-back wins over their crosstown rivals. After sustaining an opening-day loss, the Elite have rattled off three wins in a row while not allowing a single TD in return! Due to that brilliance on the pitch, Coach Ren and the Elite are in the number two spot. Keep it up, Ren! Rooting for you.
This weeks results will go a long way toward deciding everyone's fate. With two of the top teams facing each other, there could be further separation to ensure a smooth transition into the playoffs. Meanwhile, as the bottom-dwellers face off, a win will surely propel the winner closer to the top. As for the loser.. well... maybe just better to wish them better luck for next season...
Tappa Kegga Bru v The New Avengers
As I alluded to in our intro, the loser will most likely be relegated to playing spoiler the remainder of the season while the winner can possible climb right back into contention. Both teams have fared poorly and (some would say) have under-preformed. I guess that's what you get when all you can muster are 1's and 2's for 40% of your total D6 rolls, right? Check our stats last match. It's uuugly.
Coach Jester and the New avengers will surely be playing with a new member to help, but do they want to give up the TV? How much better will their armor hold? Can Coach Havol and Prez Kane pull their collective heads out of each other's ass long enough to put together a win? It's looking mighty bleak, but I have bought enough tissue to wipe the shit from my eyes long enough to lose this one, methinks. See you on the pitch, Jester
Blackwater Warthogs v Gorland Scrubbers
As Boss Bloodmaw goes, so do his 'Hogs. He's sure loving playing vs lightly armored Fraternities isn't he?. His Boyz have taken full advantage of this and will try to do so again against the Scrubbers. The MVP of the season, thus far. No doubt.
How will Coach Gorbag be motivated by having victory so close? How will he spend the 120K of inducements this match will generate? Maybe he can purchase good hand-cleaner for the kitchen so that his line cooks' hands will not be greasy when they take the pitch. Will make holding onto the ball so much easier, don't you think?
Drakenhof Elite v Marienburg Keydets
MATCH OF THE WEEK!
Coach Hoek and the Elite will try to make it four in a row when they host The Marienburg Keydets. Riding the second best winning streak going into this match, Venk and his 'students' will do their best to slow Marienburg's march toward the championship.
Coach Deano will hope last match was an aberration. Will his Keydets spend more time drilling their movements closer to perfection, or will Deano and Bobby Lee award their performance with a short holiday? One thing's for sure, when the match begins, it's no-holds-barred!
PREDICTION: A short holiday will do wonders for the Keydets. They'll hit harder, run faster, and perform better than they have all season long! Coach Hoek will do what he does; coach a near-perfect match, but in the end, the sheer force of a finely-drilled crew will out bash a scared-half-to-death 'student' corps. Result: 2-0 for the Keydets.
Apologies for the late writeup, gents. Arrange and play your matches by next Thursday, 18 December.
