The BB2 thread recently was hijacked by very opinionated players arguing incessantly about dwarves. I have created this thread so that we may all voice our opinions on this noble race without ruining everyone's chances to complain about Brettonians, stadiums, and whatever else

I only think they are boring to play against when they are rolling to good and aint slipping up or have successfully reduced your team to a few players (same is true for any team bash or otherwise). I enjoyed playing as them but I'm just to impatient to actually play as them for more than a couple games as opposed to Skaven or Elfs.
And if anyone dares to say those teams are Op then they just A: Have shitty armour rolls all the time B: Cant cage properly

I happen to like them. I find them the most challenging bash team to win with (unless you count Khemri ). Can't say I've ever found playing against them to be boring, but then again I've rarely had to do it several times in a short span of time.

Dorfs are not OP. Well maybe v stunty teams but I'm fine with that. Dorfs are average. V's standard str 3 teams Dorf has as much weakness as advantages. ( SLOW Low Agility, cant really experiment with skill picks, tricky to score a fast touch down ) And how many Dorf teams actually win stuff? Im not sure but I bet its not many vs other "OP" Teams.

You know my answer. Just another race with other strengths and weaknesses.

The most boring part about dwarf teams in Blood Bowl (I love dwarves in all other senses of the fantasy worlds.. and I have nothing against little people irl either of course!) ...is that they lure in beginner coaches. It's tempting to play something you don't need to think of a tactic for. Cage and bash for 16 turns, it's easy and when the dust clears and the TD:s are forgotten, your dwarf team still stands, ready for next match. Since they are so one-sided - when you meet a dwarf team you know you are in for 1½ hours of hack and slash. Ball play need not get out of bed. If I want pointless bashing I'd play some game where a ball was not included.
Dwarves is why I stopped playing in auld, had a night where 5 out of 7 matches were against dwarves. I have won vs dwarves and lost vs dwarves, but I always have a bad time vs. dwarves.

I say 'Boring, but not OP'... but its all relative. They are boring compared to playing against a HMP human team, or gobbos, or vamps, or Khorne, or lizards... I have yet to see an innovative dorf build, and innovation is one of the things I like most about the perpetual nature of this game.

What about dorfs with an ag4 blodgestep runner using pass in plays to feed the blitzers? Pretty innovative-for dwarves.

Full points for hmp runner, and diving catch on blitzers... My point is, there's a very limited playbook... If 'passing the ball' is amazing and innovative, that already means a team lacks options.

Meh still probably got to the endzone the old fashioned way so it aint that amazing more of a vainity pass than anything. Now a Leaping Ag4 Blitzer with Tackle and Strip ball that'd be innovative!

Don't hear me bashing dorfs though... they are rock steady, and the game needs a team like that. So while I don't personally enjoy coaching them (doesn't suit my style), I'm in the rare minority who quite enjoys playing against them. I like the challenge of trying to crack open the dorf rubix cube puzzle that my opponent presents every game.
I wouldn't mind seeing a dorf build where every player has grab... =) That could be fun.

Don't knock the HMP option for variation... the blockers could be split into two groups, one cage protecting the thrower on one end of the pitch, and another cage moving to the endzone with the receivers... It'd be a different way to play, imo. One of those cages could tempt opponents near sidelines for the trollslayers to surf. Its not a GOOD strategy, but it'd force you to play differently.

If you could Toss Dorfs that'd be my main strategy. Maybe if they ever release a "Good guy" version of Chaos Pact we can have Ogres throwing Dwarfs

I've built a dorf team centered on dump-off runners. They even have an AG4 and a MA 6 pair of blitzers. To my constant frustration, it just doesn't work that well . I hear people talking about the build as a viable way to diversify dorfs all the time, but I can't believe anyone who takes it seriously has ever encountered it, let alone built a team around it. Personally I blame the dump-off skill for being so useless 99% of the time. My only two INTs sustained on Cyanide have been by dumping-off delf runners ( right, shaunuthun? ) I will have to enter those hairy freak in the IP Open to see if I can make it work.
